7 of them were penalties though. He scored 3 from open play (1 more than Altidore). 1 cracker v the mags and cup goals against Chelsea and Man City. 1 league goal isn't much good next season as we had 4 seasons worth of penalties this season! I like borini but I truly don't think he's a goalscorer. His shooting was wayward most if the time
money is important of course, the thing being with him is if he shows he wants to be at safc this is worth more than money in some cases
According to the Argie Press, Scocco has a 5.5m price tag and Boca are trying to shift a player to raise the money.
Id take what we paid right now but £5.5m would be fantastic and could help us push another deal through
They reported it pounds sterling as we're the selling club. He's well sort after over there and Gus wants to keep him. He's not available on the cheap.
I'm unsure. I like Fab but as someone said he didn't score many if you take away penalties. Great pace though and we are woefully short of that. I'd like to think there are better value options out there but A) who are they? And B) will they be as willing as he is to come here?
The only reports I've seen reporting the transfer fees quote Scocco's agent, Fabian Soldini. He states âThe only way Scocco could be transferred to Boca is if they pay the same money that Sunderland invested in him, which would be near $5.5m [around £3.2m]." I can't see Scocco's value increasing given that he's had a lousy first season in UK.
We have got to go for it. Its a good investment. He is young and committed. Its not like he is a Gyan who is going to leave us or play silly games. If he comes its because he wants to come. I believe with 1st team football he will improve an we could sell him at a profit in a couple of years time. Short is in business, he should understand this is a risk but its a calculated risk. Better to spend 10m on a known quantity than taking a punt. It will certainly make most of the fans happy.
Really? I certsainly didn;t see enough of him to make an informed decision that he had a lousy "season" (half dozen games). He came into a side sitting bottom of the league and was injured and still in pre-season when first signed in the middle of a season in one of (the?) most physically competitive league and couldn't hit the ground running. I can;t judge on the "lousy" part and no-one else can either. I'd like to see him with a full pre-season, get to know the people he's working with and go from there - I will then be able to make a decision
I'm not saying Scocco himself was a lousy/useless player. He came here unfit, having had no pre-season training. He was put into a team that was struggling and he was under pressure to do well from the start. As luck would have it, he failed to find any form, and from this, his first season(or part of) has proven to be lousy for him. My point being that his value can't have increased from £3.2m, to the £5.5m mentioned in an earlier post.
Oh dear I think that the board need to move REAL quick and just pay the F***ing 10.5 - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign midfielder Adam Lallana, 26, and defender Dejan Lovren, 24, from Southampton and is prepared to lose 23-year-old striker Fabio Borini as part of the deal. Daily Mirror
10 mio. LFC taking the piss? Borini is a good player, 6 mil sure but 10 no way. He's not a 10 mio striker.
