We don't have a "Mata role". If we did, we'd have kept Juan Mata to play it. We're set up differently now and are better for it.

Obviously any striker coming into a new league is a risk but he was comfortably the best number 9 in Spain last year, won la liga and nearly the C.L, I'm sure he'll be fine ;)
The centre halves were the best in the league last year by some distance, no one slaughtered us then, why now?
Cesc wont play deep, he'll play in his best position in central midfield and have Matic to cover.

No team will walk the P.L but we have as good a shot as any with that line up.

Bollocks, having 9 centre backs doesnt equal the best Cb pairing. You conceded less than others because you did nothing but park the bus most of the time.

terry is what, 200 years old now and so slow that he travels back in time when he moves. cahill is just a run of the mill defender.

with that team you surely wont be parking up the routemaster and the 2 CB will be far more exposed. if you are planning on pulling off some sensational parking then why are you buying the players you are?

Of course we can park the bus /play counter attack with Cesc in midfield, and battering Ram Costa up front.

Even if you have 11 dwarf tik-a-takas, you can park the bus, it's about tactics, not just the players. If Jose tells Fab to sit alongside Matic he will, and away to Barca, he will simply play Rambo instead and maybe push Fab up.

Jose played counterattack with Deco-Maniche-Mendes. Do you really think he cannot protect his CBs with Fabregas in the team?

I said before that Costa wasn't the man for Chelsea, he's a good player, but I don't believe he will fit into Chelsea's way of playing. He needs the ball put on a plate for him, where as Chelsea need a creative spark up there. Chelsea need an Aguero type player, a player that can make something out of nothing.

Chelsea's strikers always get isolated, due to there anti brand of football, even Drogba only managed more than 12 league goals twice in 8 years, and I can see Costa having the same problems. Chelsea are not a side you want to be playing for if you want to impress as a centre forward:biggrin:

Jose wanted a dirty, cheating battering ram up front a la Drogba for the trequartistas to play off. And that's what he has bought.

Jose likes big 9s: Benni McCarthy, Milito, Higuain, Benzema, Drogba.

Would love Aguero at Chelsea...best finisher in Prem. But not really Jose's style.

Some Matth-esque posts on here about a June game in Salvador affecting Chelsea next season.
Thanks for your reverse-jinx, Kiing Shergar Matth II

Fab should give Costa coffee the outlet he needs, but Fab often fades as the season goes on
