That song is pants... I know he's sadly passed on, but doesn't make the song any better unfortunately.

We were talking about World in Motion and you said it had him in it singing out of tune...

If you think the England team was out of tune, the English language has yet to create an adjective to accurately describe Baddiel's wailing. <ok>

  6. They both had an abundance of missed notes and screeching cats. both were/are great. One was better (Three Lions) for the purpose of its creation but the other has stood the test of time and is therefore the better one over looking back.

A good football song is meant to be easy to sing along to just like football chants. That's why attempts these days don't work because they try and be too musicy and less "chant from the stand".

Three Lions has everything you'd need from a football song. Commentary... moment of England brilliance... optimism... and reference points from Tournaments of the past.

If you read your post, which I quoted, the last part is referring to 3 lions. Standard English comprehension assumes that if a passage is quoted the latter part takes precedence. <ok>

Also, if you don't know who is / isn't in World in Motion song but you're fairly sure who's in the 3 lions song . . . then . . .

I thought he might be in the World in Motion song as well and I'd just never realised to be honest <laugh>
Thought it was a bit odd though <whistle>

also, 3 Lions had a remake for '98 which was still good, but not quite as good as original. I'd even say that was just ahead of World in Motion :bandit:

Agree that 3 lions is a better chant, but it's not a better song. World in Motion is inspirational. I love 3 lions but can find it a bit depressing, or maudlin.

Also, CCC, you're "Game shot and match" comment made it seem like the comment that preceded that (about Baddeil singing out of tune) was the one that won it, meaning it was a good thing.

Let's be honest, a football song shouldn't be song pitch perfect because it's sung by fans, and 90% of football fans can't sing for ****. Makes us feel like it's one of our own singing <diva>

3 lions original was miles better than the rehash, I agree. Watch the World in Motion video. Notice it also has Keith Allen -- Lily Allen's dad, also co-creator of Fat Les and 'Vindaloo' in the video <ok>

  13. I understood exactly what CC was getting at, you just ****ed up. Accept it and move on <laugh>

Edit: much like CCC is wrong about the songs but I'm sure someone will be along to say "end of" shortly :bandit:

I've sang them all and was old enough to appreciate them all. 3 lions is great but WiM is better. Agree to disagree. Everyone has their favourite.

His daughter is fit so one of his creations were very good <ok>

Vindaloo is a **** song though. Might be on my own here... but I'd put that towards the bottom of the "classic" England songs :bandit:

To be fair... you pretty much set that one up for me <whistle>

  19. It probably depends on your experience too though. WiM would have been when you were a youngster I'm guessing. TL was whilst I was a youngster. Not sure about Biscan's view since they were both before his time <laugh>
