I see him as a delivery man. Matic breaks up the play, and gives it to Cesc, who then feeds Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle and Costa. A pass sprayer, if you will. Fab isnt much of a runner, but his passing ability is impressive.
He may be used in an advanced role but I see him as more of a central midfield player. I'd like to see him in a midfield 3 of Matic, Fabregas and Oscar with 2 wide players (Hazard and another) behind a striker. Whether that's a 433 or a 4231, think it can work either way. One of our problems of late has been slow transition in the midfield and I would hope the Fabregas signing would look to address that (Much in the way we've previously been linked with the likes of Modric, Pirlo and Alonso without signing any).
They will probably set up like this, at least I envision it this way.... -----------Matic----------- Fabregas----------Oscar--- Hazard-----Costa-----Schurrle/Willian
Not too shabby, eh? I reckon that's one centre half from a title winning side, given that Luiz left and was nominally one. I know Terry and Cahill would be first choice but you need another.
I think we're good in that area. Best defence in the league last season but it lacked balance going forward. Ivanovic will probably be a CB next season and our new signing Zouma looks like he has a lot of potential. I think we just need a left back to replace Cole and move Azpilicueta back to right back. I think it'll be Courtois Azpi Cahill JT Felipe Matic Fabregas Hazard Oscar Willian/Shirley Costa
That's exactly as I see it. Zouma and Ivan probably provide cover at C.B (especially with Kalas now going on loan). Obviously there will be rotation but that is our best 11 next year. Just need to sort the new left back.
He will probably play the Mata role for you. Mata is better in that role. cesc is a great player though, hes lost it a little over the years but I dont have any doubts that he will be a brilliant signing and would have loved him at United as long as we got another midfielder. However I will settle for the superior Schweinsteiger and vidal/pogba/strootman.
Questionable striker ( 1 season in spain doesnt mean goals galore in england ). Very very questionable centre backs. Reckon any side with pace will slaughter you Cesc hasnt played that deep in over 3 years. Im sure he can still do it but I feel he will always venture forward. This could leave holes if not covered Brilliant AM roles All in all its a great side, title winning? possibly but it certainly wont waltz the league.
Looking forward to next season, a season of going backward, as all the big boys are getting stronger and Liverpool are not.
True, history shows us that Liverpool tend to have 4 or 5 terrible seasons after 1 slightly less than dire season.
Yep, because everyone and I mean everyone will get stronger bar Liverpool, Liverpool are the only team who will not get stronger
Questionable Centre Backs? God knows what that says for every other side in the league. They were comfortably the best Centre Half partnership last season.
