Having never played in the Premier League, that statement is completley unfounded. You could've said the same of James Chester, Robbie Brady or Sone Aluko last season. In fact, to expand my point, the level that the player is playing at is never going to be a deterrent for bigger clubs. Case and point; we just signed Johan ter Horst from Folkestone Invicta, who play 2 levels beneath North Ferriby United. SB obviously thinks he has talent, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered. Had he been picked up by somebody like Leicester and he fired them into the top flight and then went on to score 20 goals, we'd have been stood here wondering why we didn't get him for £100,000 or whatever he cost. He's scoring at the highest level he possibly can in his home country, you can't really ask more of him. Historically we've missed out on some players by 'seeing how they do' at other clubs in England before we go in for them. If they do well, then their price goes up massively. What we should be doing (and what we should've been doing all along) is cutting out the middle man and taking a risk or two. If the lad has consistantly hit double figures every season, he's got to be worth a look.
just been on sheff utd and wolves forums, just looking at they point of view regards Maguire. The bell-ends at wolves quote "why is his he thinking about going to that tin-pot club hull,we will be passing them at the end of next season " Sheffield utd not much better "stay harry we will be in the same division as dull, season after next" Come on city hope we have a great season and make these twats eat there words.
Best bet is stay off their forums. I learned my lesson this season trying to have conversation with the Mackem lot. all they did was wind me up about Hull as a City, Bruce, name change etc. I stay away now.
But he might be as successful as that fella Blackburn signed. What was his name, Goodpenis or something.
Well that's the gamble you take. But I'd rather take it than see him do well somewhere else. It's not like it's a 8 figure sum we're having to pay!!
Agreed. Long has been the better buy, but they do play well together so as a combined 13m (ish I think) I think it was good business, someone needs to look at the bigger picture
If May is going to be cheep then sign him up. We need someone for non league games and we might as well take a gamble on some young goal scorer. I would prefer that rather than spend a bunch of money on someone from France, or Germany.
I would suggest that will depend on what competition / game we are playing at the time. He has rejected West Ham again and Everton are now trying to get him and Barry back to Goodison Park. Until he is given the chance we shall never know. Assuming that he does come to Hull. Agreed ^^^^ this.
For those that have been discussing transfer odds the last few days the odds on Ince have gotten better. All the sites that offer odds have now fallen to the same level of 5/4, sky was 6/4 yesterday. There are only 2 that offer odds though. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/tom-ince/club-after-summer-transfer-window
