Im also sure that a deal can be made for Ash to stay a few more seasons. It would be madness to see him go to one of our rivals....
Happy if he stays, happy if he goes. Much more concerned about losing Bony who is different class. I don't buy "If we lose ash we will lose the backbone of our defence" at all. He had some excellent games for us last season but the howlers seem to be forgotten and he and his agent should remember those days when they're negotiating. He's at the tail end of his career and he's a defender with a rick in him.
Swansea City are claimed to have told Sunderland Ashley Williams is not for sale as his agent confirmed the Wales star wants to stay in South Wales - Wales online this morning What a shock that is
5 seasons for a CB? Hmm....OK let's see him deal with the highly technical and quicker forward players in the toughest league in the world when he's 35. Not saying Ash isn't good or can't do a job for us but it won't be a huge disaster if goes imo.
I take it if Monk said he was going to buy a CB who was 30 and put him on a 5 year contract yopu would be happy!! Doubt it very much
If Williams goes to a "big club" I can see him bench timing it by Christmas ... just an opinion .. my advise to Willliams , stay on a reasonable wage where you know the system here and be a living legend .. if not , get as much money that your agent can get you ..... elsewhere .
Nah i rate him higher than that. players are playing much longer these days as you can see around other clubs. Im not saying he will play premiership football for the whole 5 years but others have done it so why not ash....
Agree Dai he can probably play another 5 if he drops outside the PL, 2 seasons tops at the highest level though.
Can understand that.... and it could just be due to the fact he's already told his mate Monk that he's likely to sign a new contract with us. Conjecture, I know.
Asking 15 million for a 30 year old defender with a year left on his contract ...... seems reasonable ...guaranteed to sell ..
