That's the first thing I thought when I heard it. There's slight differences in the timing (Blair was supposed to step aside after an election, Blatter before one) but in both cases they've proven themselves to be desperate to cling to power no matter who they step on.

It's entirely possible that Blatter's arrogance will be the cause of his downfall: if he walked away before the election he could always claim that he had the support of FIFA for his entire presidency or some other self-serving delusion he wanted to spin, but if he seeks re-election and fails the enduring image will be Platini trying not to smirk when the election results are read out.

Judging by your location, you can't vote at all! <laugh>
Does anyone backing the Yes campaign actually live in Scotland?

I think that Salmond has made sure that anybody who has been, or even thought of going to Scotland is entitled to vote.

Sounds like Blatter's diversionary skulduggery again. Anything to divert blame from himself...

Scolari's done a good job at getting Brazilians to stop playing football judging by last night's match.

Only those who are registered as living in Scotland can vote, I believe. Which is why the whole thing will potentially collapse into a legal mess if there is a Yes vote. There are already challenges being raised by Scots outside of the country to the legality of the vote seeing as any outcome will effect them, e.g. A Scottish person who has been living and working in say France for the last 6 months would potentially then find themselves ineligible to work there due to Scotland no longer being in the EU. There is a lot of questions not being answered by either sides about what the hell will actually happen. It's going to take a lot of sorting out and time if the Scots do decide to go it alone,

It is completely and utterly normal for a vote to consist of the people living in a country. If you leave to live else where, you will be voting elsewhere, or you will be entitled to vote in your resident country. I am amazed how people find it strange that a country would want to be independent rather than ruled by another country. People die for this right all over the world. What part of INDEPENDENT do you not understand!

As part of the "British Values" that Michael Gove wants taught at schools, voting against independence is one of them...
