Brazil are nothing special and won't win the World Cup. There's more than a degree of desperation about them. A more fluid and organised team will win this tournament.

They struggled to beat Croatia and only did thanks to a dodgy ref and goalie. They won't win it playing like that. They were terrible defensively.

Looks like Brazil will be starting every game with a one goal lead. Borderline corrupt refereeing.

They'll do well to get beyond the second round based on that.

I wouldnt read to much into that performance lads. The first game is always all about not losing.

    They will get better.

Just been chatting with a bloke in the departures lounge in JFK airport, who is off to Sao Paolo, then Fortaleza, where he has tickets to see a variety of group games being played there - Germany v Ghana, Uruguay v Costa Rica and another one I can't remember, then the round of 16 knock out game being held there. He's praying for Brazil to finish second in their group because then the game he would see would be Brazil v (probably) Spain.

they dont expect aus to get out of the group but said they would be happy to see then score a goal !!

Spent a lot on the trip. in the region of 20 Grand all in including flights etc.

Just seen the penalty decision again - really embarrassing Brazil had to cheat, you'd think that kind of behaviour would upset the 'beautiful game' Brazilians

Fred should be given a hefty ban. It is killing the spirit of the world cup.

Dreadful start after the corporate whoring of the last few weeks. To turn on the Tele and ITV for the first time in months left me very flat and unimpressed

The world is saturated now and frankly the public have had enough

I got an email yesterday inviting me to buy new linen for the World Cup

The WC partners Macdonalds and Coke ... when are we fools going to see through this

Football: Oscar played very well IMO he has the minerals ... Fred and Hulk .... simply not of the required standard in all aspects of their game at the top level. Neymar is young but again well off the Standard ... Our keeper did alright yet our fans hate him

Modric and that midfield deserved a lot more for that one game ... they sliced through what looks like a over hyped Brazil team ... but as said on here they could get a lot better

To watch ITV this month I will need a sick bucket as that Adrian Charles seriously needs to be removed from all media channels Couple that with a listen yesterday of Talk Sport .... christ what is happening to UK culture?

He cheated. Some allege that it seemed cash had passed between them. The ref came up with a dubious decision and there's no going back now.

What part of the 'spirit of the world cup' is he killing exactly?

Half of the England team can dive with the best of them. Even without young.

I would almost never do this, but I went to bed after the penalty, I am sick and tired of football becoming a circus of rolling around and cheating. To be fair, the Premier league is about the only top flight league (cant comment on the German to be fair) where its not chronic. I stopped watching La Liga and even the Champions league this season because of it. Its just gotten pathetic, if I got into a bar fight out here and rolled around holding my face after a slight nudge, I'd be laughed out the city, but on a football pitch its somehow on the rise and acceptable.

What worries me is that its now on the rise in youth and amatuer football. Out in Uganda, all we have in the way of training and experience is watchig games on TV. You should see the guys out here playing it up, screaming and rolling (think M'bia v spurs) as its what they see the professionals do.

I hate it and Neymar is a prime suspect (pathetic against Celtic last season), I just want to go and punch the lad.

Sick of it, bring on USA, Australia, Iran, England, Japan, Korea etc etc who might actually play like men.

Only watched the last half hour of game on RTE.....ITV's coverage is awful. Anyway the panel of John Giles, Liam Brady & Eamon Dunphy commented that "......Blatter, The President of Brazil and FIFA got the result they wanted.......and the ref was a Homer"

    Very succinct comments.....

I'm just glad the game wasn't on the bbc, they'd have said it was soft and there was contact trying to make out the guy wasn't a cheat.

He should get a 3 game ban. No he should be done for the tournament.

I agree with Flyer. What happened to the ban for diving? Eduardo against celtic got three games (and his wasnt even THAT bad) about 5 years ago, then nothing ever happened on it since. There should be a panel of ex-professionals (not referees, people who actually know what players think and do) who make decisions on areas of controversy such as this if one of the teams makes a complaint. Its not rocket science. You miss three games of a world cup, you wont be going down again. I would also call in bookings for players faking injury, which is just as vile as diving though admittedly harder to prove.

No treatment is allowed on the pitch unless the player is subbed. That also applies to players who stay down just so they can moan to the ref.

That stops fake injuries and time wasting in its tracks.

I won't forget the Sturridge dive at our place for their penalty a few years back. The ****er even had the cheek to wink at us in the paddock after he was getting abuse from there.

It isn't just those nasty South Americans who can cheat........

The only people who care about cheating are british fans. The players cheat, fans of most, if not all, other countries think you are stupid if you don't cheat. Get used to it.

But at least the England captain sets a good example. Ooops.
