Barca didn`t want him and let him go on the cheap, Arsenal didn`t want him at all, Chelsea only wanted him at a low price, United showed interest but obviousley didn`t think that low price was worth beating. Do the top clubs and managers know something about him that we don`t ?
are y'all gonna do the whole Hazard thing now then>? Where he was the second coming when you wanted to sign him, and when he came to Chelsea he is all of a sudden worse than Kagawa?
lol at Arsenal fans on BBC hyper backtracking: "We won nothing with him in our midfield" "He was always too lightweight" He literally was their BEST player ever according to a lot of Arsenal fans, then he signs for Chelsea and the claws come out
I honestly don't think there was a big call for us to sign him and, by the sounds of it, nor were the club interested. He's a good player, he'll no doubt be at the very least a good member of the squad for you, but I'm certainly not bothered we didn't get him. If we get no one else though then that becomes a different story.
I agree in that he was definitely someone Moyes coveted rather than LVG. I dont think you guys made any real push for him this summer, that was last year.
Strange that Barca did everything they could to keep him last year then got rid the following. Clearly Luis Enrique didn't think he was much cop!
Different strokes for different folks I guess. Same with Mata. Many believe him to be the best No 10 in the league, but Jose obviously didnt share that opinion.
Seeing as an overhwelming majority on Not606 at least, voted yes to the "Should we exercise our option to bring back Cesc", I think a lot of them are bothered, on this forum at least. I personally think Wenger made the right move to be fair. They have other areas that they need to spend their transfer budget on. Like a striker, RB and DM. Signing Cesc would have been a vanity signing, and somewhat of a panic, in that he is just World class and is available, even though he is not especially required, like when they signed Ozil.
If we get the Fabregas that was at Arsenal we could be in for a very good season. Selling Luiz for 40-50m and getting Fabregas for 27-30m is absolute brilliant business. He didn't get the chance to shine at Barca due to the favouritism that other players get there - Ibrahimovic suffered similarly and is now seen as one of the best in the world. This has all the makings of a great signing, exactly what we need. Shocked United didn't do more to sign him given the money, his experience, P.L proven, home grown etc
