    Has he ever raced before?

Edit: Apparently so, according to Wiki:

After retiring from football in 2007, Barthez began a career in motorsport in 2008. He began competing at selected events in the Porsche Carrera Cup France that year with the team SOFREV Auto Sport Promotion. He also competed at two events in the THP Spider Cup. In 2009, he raced in a number of various motorsport series such as the French GT Championship, Bioracing Series and the Caterham Sigma Cup France as well as the Porsche Carrera Cup France. He continued to race in the FFSA GT Championship in 2010 and picked up his first podium in race 1 at Dijon-Prenois. In the 2012 season he won his first race in the FFSA series at the Circuito de Navarra in race two and finished seventh in the championship. In 2013 he was crowned French GT Champion alongside Morgan Moullin-Traffort, driving a Ferrari.[26]

In 2013 he also competed in the newly re-branded FIA GT Series alongside Gérard Tonelli in the Gentleman Trophy class with SOFREV ASP driving a GT3-spec Ferrari 458 Italia.

In February 2014 it was announced that Barthez would be entered into the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, driving Sofrev ASP's Ferrari 458.[27]

Yeah, he's a decent driver. Looking perfectly competent at LM24.

Yeah, saw this earlier. Made me laugh people saying "man fights off Great White" and "shark attack video". Nothing of the sort. If it's real, that shark isn't in an attack pattern - it's checking him out, but not making any move or at any stage moving in a way that suggests it's going to attack.

Not saying that my arse wouldn't have gone all the same mind you.

I knew he competed in French GT and the like, and indeed had Le Mans aspirations. But I had no idea he was racing in it this time round. I think I heard somewhere that Alessandro del Piero might do the same when he's done.

You get a lot of 'gentlemen drivers' at Le Mans - Adrian Newey did it a few years back with a guy I know who sells Ferraris/supercars called Joe Macari. Never a race driver (Joe moreso than Adrian) - it's actually that which causes a lot of the problems we've already seen in practice/qualifying though.

Most of the gentleman drivers are capable enough to at least not be unsafe, but there are definitely one or two who could definitely do with improvement...

Eyes? I have a pretty yellow field behind ny house and the rapeseed does us at this time of year. Yesterday my daughter couldn't open her eyes. She goes to school looking like she has just gone 8 rounds in a boxing ring.

Yeah they're pretty swollen. Throat too. From lunch onwards yesterday I couldn't get any work done. A day in bed for me I reckon. If there's popular demand I can do a little side story about things that happen in my bedroom. The cat might show up and do something interesting, and who knows what may go on outside this window. I can see horses.

Would rather go to work then get bad hayfever. I get moderate hayfever i.e runny nose itchy eyes and throat. So I can sort of appreciate what you're enduring. I just imagine my hayfever getting 10 times worse.

Window stories are always good. During my revision last week I was looking out the window practically all day, I regret not bringing some walk of shame stories in here.

My window stories suck. All I see is my back garden, so I might see a cat or something show up every once in a while.

My windows stories are legion. Although most of them date from 3.0, 3.1, 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP Pro. And most would only get a real nostalgic giggle out of a nerd.

On real windows, my old Mum would have enough to last a lifetime. She couldn't stand the TV, so used to look out of the bedroom window for an hour or so, watching the world go by, on the occasional evening.
