Pretty boring stuff, makes our Olympic Opening Ceremony look like a World-beater. I thought that new Nike advert was pretty witty though, they must be spending an astronomical amount on it... please log in to view this image 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP: BRAZIL V CROATIA Arena de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo Thursday 12 June Kick-off: 21:00 BST please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
So boring that I've let my daughter put on her saddle club horse programme which looks truly awful 2mins in but still improvement on opening ceremony! They should do away with extravagant ceremony and just have the oldest World Cup player they can find kicking a ball to the youngest World Cup player in the tourno - then straight onto first game!
I just hope we do not witness live on TV during this tournament any sections of these rushed and most likely bodged stadiums collapsing! Sorry, I'm not trying to be a doom merchant but I have read a few news items about the mad rush to get the stadiums ready. There were people in hard hats only yesterday bolting together the scaffolding towers with spectator seats on them. Also we all know how bad the pitch for the England games looks.
I just watched it in 5 seconds, looked like the standard dire dance stuff. Don't like the pundits either, I'm 52 mins in and just watched the first bit which was on the England team.
They should've created a gargantuan Sepp Blatter animatronic, and reassembled the 1974 Zaire team to hack at it's nuts
Thanks for the Joey info Stroller. I'v just had a gander on Joey's twitter page and again there is some funny World Cup stuff on it. It looks to me like Joey is going to be doing a bit of TV work during this tournament. I'm jealous as I would love to be there right now. https://twitter.com/Joey7Barton
They should finish it with Sepp Blatter rolling around in a huge vat of dollars and then jumping out waving wads yelling "loadsamoney!"...
Watched the first few minutes, then realised I had time for a West Wing episode before the football...and now tuned back in to hear the wise words of Arsene Wenger. And of course see OUR goalkeeper walk out with Brazil.
Glad the three kids didn't squeeze those poor doves too hard which could have resulted in a Monty Python Norwegian Blue pet store skit.
There was a tournament a few years back when they released doves that flew up into the blades of fans in the roofing, well and truly shredded...
