That would be pretty bad from both sides. Wow, grown-ups not behaving like grown-ups.... it can happen
According to the media, your value drops if you hand in a transfer request. I've seen £10million quoted now, which I find laughable. His valuation has more than doubled in the last 12 months. If he goes it will be for £15million+ I hope.
£8.5M was considered a risk, & we risked it. So as above, £15M+ or hold firm. Jesus, this is going to get tiresome!
Me too. Thing is, if this was true it happened on 30th May, and much may have changed since that point, and may change again once we appoint a new manager.
I'm of the opinion that the board have told the players to wait, and that's their stance. They don't need to keep telling the players this if they've already told them. The board aren't going to change because Dejan, Adam et al are trying to force a move through. The players know the board's situation, they'll have to wait.
I think I have missed something, but where does the suggestion that Les Reed is an ogre and massively disliked has come from?
historic precedent and all indications from people who claim to be close to the club. the only concrete information is admittedly Steven Gerrard's open criticism of his methods.
His words were "Reed is the one who a number of payers have mentioned to me recently as being an issue for them", which is pretty ambiguous. It might be a reference to his perceived level of competence rather than his personality.
specifically the idea he's an ogre comes from here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6181993.stm
I don't think that's a distinction which is particularly important. Either way, he's not liked. "Ogre" would be a harsh word to use if it's a competence issue, but that's semantics.
hth edit: out of interest here's an amateur article about reed in which he's quoted as feeling victimised by the media edit2: it also speculates he might have form for back stabbing.
Reed may deal with contracts and transfers but the only one Lovren and the other players need to be worried about on a day to day basis is the manager / coach. The same could be said of the fans actually. The board appoint a manager / coach who believes in attractive football can develop young players and can take us forward by improving the existing players and the results. Everything else is just politics. What happens behind the scenes is of very little interest to me - maybe with the exception that I would like to see money available to take us forward. Whether that comes for a sugar daddy or by sound businees development (obviously the latter is more sustainable) is for some one else to decide. I'll pay my money and cheer them on every week. But don't expect me to applaud any greedy bastards who sign a long term contract and then think they are too good for theclub after one year.
I don't understand the notion that the Board are the bad guys in all of this, what about the players?, nobody is forcing them to leave (apart from Rickie, when the Club simply did the right thing). Nicola resigned after being asked to stay, nobody knows the reasons why apart from himself and the Club. Poch resigned after being offered an improved contract to stay, now a number of players are reportably angling for moves to a bigger and richer Club despite being told to wait until a new Manager is appointed. The common denominator here is naked ambition and maybe Cortese was the glue holding it together, but there is nothing to say that Poch wouldn't have left when the first "better" offer came along. The same applies to the players, the big boys have only started knocking at the door after our successful season, who's to say that they would've stayed under Cortese, that is just conjecture. To sum up....Cortese resigned after being asked to stay, Poch left after being asked to stay and a few players want to leave but the Club wants them to stay, what more can the Club do apart from appointing a top Manager, which they are supposedly in the process of doing.
People just like to bitch about their boss. He doesn't need to be massively disliked for people to do that.
