Oooo, I hope Ranieri gets it. No offence but he's ****ing ****e, he does well for 9 months at a new club and then absolute disastrously from then on after. He struggles to keep players interested and is heavily criticised for failing to keep his sessions and ideas fresh. You;d stay up next season mid-table and then he'd get sacked at Christmas the year after.

Good stuff too. Then we get to keep our superior manager and let Southampton run off with a prick of an Italian.

So you admit that the mood is not very positive at the moment, then!!! My point exactly.

Auto spelling kicked in so I will let you hav ethat one, but remind me how many r's in Leibherr? I did notice the edit.

Erm 12.5m on Osvaldo sold for how much? Good track record, yep Delgado was a great buy. You cannot believe that having spent that amount that Southampton has just to watch the best of the bunch be sold is actually inspiring.

No one is saying that it isn't, but just look how many clubs have had the rug pulled out from under them and remember that you went from 12th in 2003/4 to 68th.

    From the Echo :
"Work stopped at the training ground on Wednesday morning. A statement from Leadbitter said: “Everyone involved in the construction of the new training ground at Southampton Football Club wants to ensure that the facility meets the current and future needs of the club. “Therefore, we have agreed with the club that works will pause so that we may confirm details of a specific aspect of the project. Works are expected to resume in the near future. ”The nature of the “specific aspect” has not been disclosed. Saints club spokesman Jordan Sibley said on Twitter that the two parties had “agreed to pause the process whilst details of a specific aspect of the specification is confirmed.” He added that Leadbitter and Saints were “looking forward to the project being completed ahead of the 2013-14 season.”

It is a great training centre but the delay...its still not been finished, or at least it doesnt look it when I drove past on Saturday.

    Yer if you like!!!

Some are positive, some aren't. But overall from the mood on the main Saints forum appears to be getting more positive as the summer goes on. If they appoint an impressive manager and recruit well then the whole fan base will unite.

Osvaldo is a very good player, he just happens to be a mentalist. I agree that transfer didn't work as planned, but my point was overall under Liebherr ownership transfers have seen more good buys than bad.

Osvaldo is also still a Saints player, he hasn't been sold. He was loaned to Italian champions Juventus last season.

Really puzzled why you are talking about Delgado. He was signed in 2001 and left in 2004 which was 5 years before the Liebherr take-over! Again like with Osvaldo, it was non-footballing reasons why that transfer didn't work, not his ability.

We dropped last time because we had an owner in Rupert Lowe that invested next to nothing in the team. Things are very different now, the infrastructure at the stadium and training ground is better, the team is better and the academy has even higher standing in British football.

The £30m+ upgrade is confirmed by Les Reed yesterday to be on target to be completed when the players return in early July.

Not worked out as you planned? You shouldve just asked me and saved a load of hassle:

Posted on an Osvaldo thread on 14th August 2013 after they were linked with him:

Hull fan and Italian football lover (former Inter season ticket holder) popped over to read the Huddlestone thread and saw this....

Jesus Christ, stay well away. He's like Di Canio at his most mental but with 20 Red Bull and Buckfast down his neck. Gifted talent but if he signs for you, them 2 will have an actual fistfight within 3 months guaranteed.

And this one posted the same day:

    14/08/2013, 01:11 PM #30 Bum_Chinned_Crab

The Black Cats have made a £7million bid for Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo. ‪#‎SAFC‬

Oooo dear... Last season alone he punched a fellow team mate in training and injured him for weeks, had an on pitch fight demanding to take a penalty when he wasnt the designated taker and then missed, in a fans interview said "what ****ing more do you want from me?" and had to be smuggled out of the first day of pre season training this year as hundreds of Ultras turned up to attack him and club officials literally feared for his life. He's THAT hated.

And that's off the top of my head! Im sure there's other stuff... Im just praying he doesnt sign for Inter cos rumour is he's holding out for a move there.

We did all know that he had history of being a mentalist, but hoped Pochettino having worked with him before could control him. Sadly he couldn't.

He was the 3rd top scorer in Serie A in the season before we signed him and an Italian international. The fact we loaned him to Juventus also highlights he is a good player. He just has too many "issues".

Why are you telling me all this? I watch far more Serie A than I do Premier League. I didnt watch a single Premier League live or highlights package in 2012/13 and watched probably 50 Serie A matches.

Cue collective groan from the rest of the board...

Computer generated images dont really prove anything, its a year late. And the work has not been finished yet.

Southampton have had a terrible record with owners players and managers in the past and I do hope that they do well in the future but for heavens sake get your head out of your arse.

Osvaldo sold for how much?................nothing you cannot even give him away.

Can I say that no one least of all me is putting Southampton down, its just your view is too far beyond what I see from Southampton supporters.

The first 4 images I posted are photographs taken in the last few days and show it is very nearly complete.

Anything pre-July 2009 is irrelevant. The club has been extremely successful in the last 5 years under Liebherr ownership. The last 4 of which were under Katharina Liebherr after her father died.

He'll probably be sold at a loss. But he is still a good enough player to get a reasonable fee at some point this summer.

Take a breath and then take some steps back, its not complete yet, your fellow supporters are worried at this moment, no one knows who or even if you will spend in the close season.

At this precise moment in time you are a selling club with no manager an unfinished training ground, a new CEO who has no background in the game, the academy has lost some of its long term staff and some of your supporters are not as happy as 2 months ago.

Now that may have changed by this time next week, but it is what it is.

Has he been brought in to asset strip for the owner so that the Saints club can be sold debt free at some point ??

But it will be on 1st July when players start reporting back. So what is your point?

Some are, yes. But its an ever decreasing number and will signifcantly decrease if the managerial appointment and player recruitment is good this summer even if a few players leave.

Club management have confirmed they have a healthy transfer budget regardless of player sales this summer. In the last two seasons they spent £37m and £36m. They also confirmed any money from player sales which could be £60m+ will be added to the existing transfer funds. The new manager will have a huge budget.

You can list all the clubs in world football that aren't selling clubs on the fingers of one hand.

A manager will be appointed in the next few days and the training ground will be finished by the time pre-season starts. What is your point?

The CEO has been at the club already for a number of years in his previous role as chief financial officer, he isn't new to the club and football matters aren't his remit.

Les Reed is in charge of all football matters at the club. He is a vastly experienced football man and has been at the club since April 2010 and has overseen an extremely successful period in the club's history. He knows what he is doing.

Every club has a turnover of staff in academies. Southampton have one of the best academies in the country, they'll have no difficulty attracting high quality replacements.

Its an ever decreasing number and as I've already said... a good managerial appointment and player recruitment in the coming days will quickly see the whole fan base positive again.
