A little arrogant to be fair... Bruce is a good manager doing an excellent job at Hull. We know we have spoken with Koeman but other than odds shortening havent anything concrete on Mancini.
It is Banter.., And if a person wants to come on our board and give some spit, He can enjoy some back.
He wasnt giving us a hard time, I believe it was directed at someone else who mentioned something about Bruce on this forum! Although it does show the fickle nature of us fans - 2 weeks ago we were virtually out of business and now we are suggsting we can attract the best managers in recent premier league history...
I think it's important for us to make a marquee managerial signing as it will be important in buying/keeping players. I don't really see Steve Bruce as that. It could also act as a signal of intent by the board; Sign Koeman / Mancini - keep pursuing a European spot. Sign Bruce / Sherwood - Mid to low table mediocrity beckons.
Personally I don't want Mancini as a head coach, He is poor at handling players. Id much rather have a manager in the Bruce Ilk, But he won't attract the players we want to move forward.
I agree not wanting Mancini but the manager isnt the only matter to attract quality players - although it does help. By that nature most of our team could join Spurs... The system we have at the club, vision, wages etc. are all considerable factors. Someone like Koeman could be a good middle ground by bringing youth into the team that have been developed already, by attracting quality etc.
Osvaldo aside, we don't really have anyone who needs much handling. Not that I think we'll go for him (or that he would come if we did).
I dont believe a marquee manager is required - who had really heard of MP prior to him taking over as manager. As Les Reed stated yesterday, we have a network of scouts and data analysts working behind the scenes and it may be with our process for buying players (i.e. with involvement of many and discussion of the manager) that they may not need to be a big name manager to attract the players - it could also come down to a number f other factors like style of play, current team, ambition etc.
Players like Lallana is going to require some handling if what we have been hearing fro a couple of weeks is accurate and if we dont end up selling him.
Well if all that is true then he wanted to leave years ago and continued to behave when he wasn't allowed to (save for refusing to play in a couple of friendlies), so I don't see why he would need any special handling from the manager now.
Perhaps as it has gone far more public now, and also he feels his stock has risen significantly due to his prestige and national team honours. I believe it is called the 'Clattenburg' effect...
The trouble is a brief flirtation with Wolves when we're in L1 is a bit different to Liverpool and Champion's League. Still, it'll all come out in the wash.
i'm not saying I want him either but if we are serious about moving forward then we need a big name manager who can attract better players then so be it he will have my support.
They were in the premier league at the time. Surely a bigger step up? You're right, it's hardly worth speculating over though.
Ooooo that's a nice sight. Out of nowhere to fifth in the list on Oddschecker. I wonder what's inspired that.
Really can't see Mancini being interested but it would definitely send out the right message about ambition etc. Still Koeman for me though. Bruce a definite NO!!!
