    Morning happy people!

How are we all doing on this fine summer's morning? (don't answer, I'm not actually interested).

So I came back from a little holiday on Sunday, I'm sure you all missed me like crazy :)D) and seeing as the World Cup is round the corner, thought I'd gauge your opinions on what outcomes your predicting for the big'un which is just under two days away! Whoop Whoop!

    So, as follows:

    Team to win the tournament:
    Runner up:
3rd place play off winner and who they beat:
    Top scorer:
    Player of the tournament:
    England player of the tournament:
    Team with most goals scored:
    Team with most goals conceded:
Team who'll surprise a few with a good run:
Team who'll be the biggest disappointment:
    Most red cards:

    I'll start with mine:

Team to win the tournament: Brazil
    Runner up: Argentina
3rd place play off winner and who they beat: Spain, beating Germany.
    Top scorer: Fred
Player of the tournament: Paulinho or Fredy Guarin. I'll go with Paulinho, he tends to be immense for the Samba Boys.
England player of the tournament: Rooney (he's due a good world cup!)
Team with most goals scored: Brazil
Team with most goals conceded: Australia
Team who'll surprise a few with a good run: Colombia, even without Falcao they have a tasty team and can see them reaching the quarters and just narrowly being beaten by one of the top sides.
Team who'll be the biggest disappointment: France, so many great players yet I can't help but feel they'll end up throwing another tantrum of some sort and just fail to impress.
Most red cards: Italy. With Chiellini, Bonucci and Balotelli all in one side, it's got to be them surely?!

    Happy predicting people! <ok>

Confidence in Messi it seems. His international tournament record hasn't been too great if I remember rightly, is this his time?

    No, it's Fred's! :D

He's 26 now. Last WC he was 22, a tad young. I just feel the time is right for him this year. Ronaldo too, but the team behind him isn't a patch on Argentina

Great (or whatever we are) minds think alike. Must admit, don't even know if Germany can avoid meeting Argentina earlier in the tournament, so might be impossible. Did you check?

I think one of Messi or Ronaldo will flop, would be great to watch as a spectator if both are on form though.

  10. There's always at least one unexpected player who lights up the tournament, eclipsing the known stars. I think Barclay could well prove to be one of the stars. It'll be fantastic for Everton if he is, because that will mean that United/£ity will have to pay double what they'd otherwise have bidded, this Summer.

Anyway, who really gives a **** about FFP?

Also there is always one fancied team which falls to get out of their group, that won't be England as they aren't fancied, but wouldn't surprise me if it was Belgium.

History tells us that it's not going to be France this time:
    1994: DNQ
    1998: Winners
    2002: Group Stage
    2006: Runners-up
    2010: Group Stage

...although they won't be making it to the semis this time, let alone the final.

The French shouldn't even be there!

Although the French are in with Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras. If there is any justice then Ecuador and Honduras will be top 2 but you're likely to be right, French should make it through.

Team to win the tournament: Brazil
Runner up: This is where we have to get the World Cup wall charts out :D Argentina
3rd place play off winner and who they beat: Portugal beating Chile.
Top scorer: Well it should be between Kane and Soldado but since they're not even playing, Aguero.
Player of the tournament: Again it should be Tom Carroll but I'll go for Ronaldo.
England player of the tournament: Will there be one picked? Hart.
Team with most goals scored: Argentina
Team with most goals conceded: Ghana
Team who'll surprise a few with a good run: Iran to get out of the group
Team who'll be the biggest disappointment: Netherlands
    Most red cards: Ghana

Bloody Hell, that was comprehensive! I think you missed out the player to take the most throw ins though :p

I'd presume it's team mate, gotta be highly unlikely for a player to pick up two reds in one tournament wouldn't it? Has it ever happened before? THFC6061, you're up!
