I think this will explain why our signings are slow, cost effectiveness.
And the legacy left by the last bad management team.

Keep faith thou I am sure things will come good.

"Out of £48m of parachute payments, we're looking at perhaps seeing only £3m of that. Everything has been pre-spent."

I knew some of it was already spoken for, but...........

As with the earlier thread, save for some maguire quotes there's very little we don't already know. They just get nothing from the pearsons and clearly have no better sources than you and me.

I Think the Club need to explain in More Detail, the figures being banded about.
By my reckoning at least £147 Million worth of debt is being attributed to the last regime, 2 x £30 million Pl Seasons £40 million of debt paid off by Mr Allam, now a further £40 million of parachute payments are already covered, plus the 7 Million
i can't honestly see how we are saddled with that much Debt, however Bad Bartlett/Duffen Were. Pompey took Years to build up there £160 debt and signed some big players, we hardly signed superstars and had success like pompey.
One Thing Nagging me, Are the parachute payments simply paying off a Loan from Mr Allam?

I've always assumed they planned to get at least some of the money they invested back from parachute payments. I'd have no problem with them doing that but that isn't they way it is being presented. How can we have spend about £70m+ PL money, £40m+ parachute money and the £30m that the Allams put in (wasn't it £30m plus about £10m in guarantees)? It doesn't add up. Surely the Allams are getting some of their money back, they deserve to.

Not sure how you get that number? The Allams put in £40m to cover the debt at the time and the future payments on transfers that had been guaranteed. There's a further £7m on those payments due in August. Even if the £48m is allocated to pay off loans, that's a long way short of £147m.

It's astonishing that we've got into this position. Just still truly baffling.

I Agree, just wish the club could explain the details of the Debts so we as fans have a greater understanding of the problems faced, rather than figures just branded About as though they are plucked out the Air and they seem to keep rising every few months.
I thought the Allams Deal saw the club as Debt Free Club, now we still have 40 million worth of Debt to cover upto 2014.

I think it's a slightly odd way of presenting the numbers, as the 'parachute money all used up' bit just means we're running at a wage level that will use up all the money over the term of the payments, which is exactly what I'd expect.

We have five players, who are between them contracted to earn £6m this year and almost £5.5m next year, if we could get them off the books then those numbers would immediately look far better(I realise we're unlikely to get rid of them all and some problems will continue, but it does make clear the need to).

This news won't stop the daily posts on here about why we aren't spending trillions on new players already, although it should.

I think your inability not to let a "Bad Day" compromise the way you talk to people might be putting him off!!

Even that's not completely right. I've just been looking at this for my other thread. Halmosi was spotted at the North Ferriby game in 2008 prior to signing. That would have to put it in July.
