Jacky Colback went to town

    Interesting stuff from the club:

“This wasn’t about money – the club agreed to all of the terms demanded of us during discussions and we were always led to believe that Jack wanted to stay with us.

“At his and his representatives’ request, final talks were put on hold until the club secured its top flight status. To our dismay however, we were subsequently never given the chance to negotiate with him to stay.

“For him to then leave the club that has supported him throughout his formative years in such a manner, with no chance for Sunderland to recover any of the significant investment that it has made in him as a player, has left a bitter taste.”

Colback bagged three goals and two assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, including 36 starts, for the Black Cats last term.

    ----------------------------------

So we offered him what he wanted and he still left. He will get dogs abuse from me when he comes back with them

Our next signings will soon push this carrot-topped clown out of our minds.

If we'd signed Borini yesterday he'd have struggle to get a mention .......... he'll soon be forgotten until the derbies.

This is the clubs fault, we should of pushed him into signing a contract which had a release clause of 1 or 2 million if we went down, you cant blame a player to do this, the club didn't look after its assets.

What Smug said. He was a very handy player, Jack. But he's no world-beater. A couple more signings and we'll have forgotten about the new carrot patch on the Sid James' pitch...

You can't force a player to sign a contract, especially someone who lack's ambition.

Colback looks like a homebird who just wants to see his career out in the NE.

He'll never play for a top club, abroad or for England so he'll go to Newcastle and hope to cling on until the end of his career.

If it doesn't work out, and they don't renew his contract, he'll have to take a big wage cut and move to somewhere like Stoke or Villa.

I suspect we'll all have the last laugh on Jack Anory <ok>

Why doesn't anyone else realise this?

You'll be going down the same road with Whickham if you don't act soon.

I think the statement by the club is unwarranted! Its our fault his contract ran out! Its our fault we were having such a bad season that we couldn't negotiate it midway through! Whether there was a gentlemans agreement that he was to sign if we stopped up? We will never know! But he's done nowt wrong! Maybe we were a bit lax with his contract because, before the season just gone, he was somebody that we may have been happy to let go on a free anyway! He was somebody who we always thought we would improve upon at some point! He's always been somebody, when seeing his name on the teamsheet, made me think that 'can we surely not get anybody better than him?????' Its only been this last season where we have seen somebody who ranks anywhere near a competent Premier League player! By then it was obviously too late and his head may have been turned and he was never gonna sign a new contract! Maybe his improvement this season has had selfish undertones and has been based on him putting himself in the shop window??? Oh well, he's gone now, hopefully we will get some players who are a lot better than him!

I do, I'm sure everyone does, Listen mate, we've had thread upon thread about the way we've handled contracts. People aren't stupid mate, but if folk choose discuss Colback's conduct, which is unique to this situation so an obvious talking point, instead of the subject we've done to death then that's our choice and right. Why do you have a problem with this?

The thing highlighted about Wickham. I've discussed it, do I need to again your benefit or may I stick on topic? Colback signs for the Mags, Not Sunderland's on going **** ups with contracts and not Connor Wickham. By all means start a thread on the way Sunderland handle contracts if you want.

Or you can let disappointed fans discus how the lad lied and robbed us off a fee because he knew fine well Newcastle would not offer money for him in January.

People are just venting mate. Leave them be.

Spot on, it's Sunderland own fault in my eyes. if we offered him what he wanted last year I would say Colback would of signed a new deal. I bet Sunderland only offered him what he wanted when Sunderland stayed up & that was to late in his eyes.

Hopefully we buy a class midfield & we can forget about him but I got a bad feeling telling me Cattermole, Larsson & Bridcock will be our midfield 3 for next season.

Come on Short spend some ****ing money.

Is that how contract negotiations work?

Perhaps we did and he wouldn't sign or perhaps he said he'd sign this summer but was lying.

    Jack Anory is my guess.

He's turned out to be a bit of a prick, but he's also a Mag, so it's hardly a massive shock.

Nobody really knows but I think if Sunderland offered colback what he wanted a year ago then I think he would of signed.

Anyway the prick has gone so hopefully we buy a better player & all of us will say Colback who.

Well put Smiffy, I completely agree. I personally liked the lad. A lot of fans keep saying that he wasn't attack minded enough/didn't get forward enough/didn't score enough, but I've lost count of the number of times I've seen him run forward with the ball, lay it off to a team mate and keep running into space, pointing to where he wanted the return pass and never getting it. Let's not forget that he played a season and a half out of position at left back, doing a solid job, which must have held back his development as a central midfielder. I think we've lost a very decent player and the club are as much to blame as anyone.

Yeah but it's old news. Jack isn't the first contract we've ****ed up on is it? We've just let 5 expire and we saw it on the cards 6 months ago. We even knew Jack was off to the Mags about three weeks ago, old news too. The revelation of Jacks bullshit is less than 24hours old. Probably the reason this thread has gone in this direction.

Spot on pal, I rather have Colback than Larsson & Bridcock.

With Colback doing the dirty on us, I hope this will end Sunderland from buying Geordie's players in the future.
