To be fair, they have a much better claim to it than we do. It's like the Russia - Ukraine thing, they wanted to be taken over by us, just as the Crimeans want to be taken over by the Russians. However, it was still an illegal war and we wouldn't have been able to do it in this day and age imo. That said, they went to war with us to try and win them back and we sent them packing, so they need to just get over it. Banner has no place in football also <ok>

And how long does a country have to hold on to land they have invaded before it becomes theirs? It's a grey area really mate all just depends how far back in history you choose to go.

    All right clever bollocks <ok>

Yes, everyone knows that, it's a case of ad infinitum and really boring.

Lets all hope the Homo Erectus comes back to liberate us from these Homo Sapien oppressors eh?

If you believe that the French/Dutch/Belgians weren't liberated, in 1944/5, by the Allies then I have no argument.

Wasn't actually trying to be clever, just pointing out it's hard to say when a "liberation" would become an "invasion". Of course the d day landings and all that went with it was a liberation. <ok>

So why don't you answer your own question,

"And how long does a country have to hold on to land they have invaded before it becomes theirs?"

I might actually learn summat here <ok>

Was a rhetorical question, there is no answer. Everyone will have different interpretation.

    Well thank you.
Can you think of another western European nation that has had so many terrorists sitting in parliament?
I mean, we've had that bitch Mairaid Farrel who the SAS blew away to **** & ****ing good on them, job well done was Gibraltar.
That poxy whore Bernadette Devlin, the Para's sorted her mates out.
That arsehole Sands who ate nowt.
And don't even get me started on them two ****s Adams & that ginger **** McGuinness.
I swear to god, had I ever had those two bastards in my cross hairs I'd have been tempted to slot the twats.

    Sorry, had a bad afternoon.

Nope, but then again I also (in part) agree with the other chap that we took it and fought off the Argies when they came back for it so they can suck it. A little barbaric but since no one has a 100% claim to them I wouldn't give them back for nowt. Don't really care less one way or the other though tbh, they're a few totally irrelevant rocks.

Do the feelings of the people of the Falklands count for nowt like?

They want us, we've helped them to become completely self-sufficient apart from defence which comes from us. They're happy how it is and that's all that should count.

True but that's a dangerous precedent to set, surely you can see that? Just look at Crimea...

Not really, Falklands are ours, the people of the Falklands are happy with that. Argentina can **** off, there's nothing they can do to about it.

If the Argies decide to take them over again, it won't be as easy as last time, due to some of the missiles etc that are based there now.

However, if they overcome these and actually took them over, i can't see any way that the UK would be able to take them back off them off.

We certainly have the means (We still have Trident) but not sure we would have the will to do it.

Its an interesting situation, no natural indigenous population and not really close to any mainland country, I don't see why we would hand them over to Argentina, this posturing is normally attributed to internal political troubles in Argentina and used as a distraction technique.

How would Spain react if Morocco invaded the Canary Islands?

I don't care who owns the Falklands. Just keep the greedy oil and gas companies away from the place. I am sure the wildlife down there just loves the idea of BP polluting its waters!! And wouldn't it be nice if just for once the UK Goverrnment does show a bit of care towards the environment.

PS: Wonder how many brown packets Government ministers have received when givng companies "fracking" rights.

They won't do that, they have no fire power. They wouldn't dare as we'd smash em to bits, The Argies would be much more likely to try and enforce their political influences to disrupt trade and supplies to and from the islands. In which case we would need to help them out with whatever they need. We'd also stop buying beef from the Argies too probably.
