Real Madrid's striker summer hunt

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Livtor, Jun 9, 2014.

?

By the end of summer, Real's attack will include:

  1. same personnel, except Morata. CR7 will double as striker if needed.

  2. a new striker, not that expensive, understudy to Benzema

  3. will end up keeping Morata. Same personnel as this year.

  4. Suarez purchased for world-record fee.

  5. Suarez purchased after bitter saga for ~75 mill pounds.

  6. a new expensive striker, not Suarez however.

Suarez's reps have been talking to every big team in Europe since last summer trying to hawk a move and otherwise keeping communication lines open. It's no secret that he'll leave for Real if they come in for him. It's also no secret that we'll be very stubborn about selling him at the right price - if we even do consider it.

Marca will say what they have to (told to) to get the media ball rolling in the right direction and put the spotlight in the necessary places.

Still, their targets are Aguero first, Cavani/Falcao second/third then Suarez fourth. None of them are exactly bad options! They'll see which one bites. Suarez to Real links are easier to substantiate given the circus last summer too, whereas there's not as much information lying around on the other three. Hmm, I wonder which one Marca will roll with to sell news and I wonder which player is easier to get under the skin of...

Let's be honest, Madrid have to meet the release clause in his contract.

We put it in there for a reason and prob made it clear, we wouldn't sell him for anything less and he obviously agreed with that.

If they match it, he'll be off, if they don't he wont.

Simples. nothing we can do so no need to worry about it

  3. I bet we sell him for less than the release clause. Maybe not this summer, or even the next, but some day he will leave for less money than the clause in his contract.

On a serious note though, there was a lot of press speculation last year about Madrid yet they never displayed any public interest. They tend to start their unsettling tactics before the previous season ends, i would be more worried about the likes of PSG, not all players have dreamed of playing for them but the money they throw at them seems to make the difference. I am not sure how Madrid would use Suarez anyway, they have an abundance of talanted tricky players. If they lose Morata i think they will go for a powerful, direct striker as a replacement.

Madrid spending huge money on a star without really needing them? Surely not... <whistle>

I just don't see Suarez going unless it's to a huge team like Madrid/Barca/Bayern.

I'm not saying there aren't better teams than us out there... but he'll be in the CL playing for a team that nearly won the title and will have another shot next year (hopefully) so why the need to go to someone else that can't offer him more than that?

He has just reached the point in his career where he has no need to move to improve his situation but in this sad world money talks very loud.

Technically he isn't leaving for free though, he'd be retiring. Plus what if he got a new contract with no release clause.. <whistle>

I agree with you. The reasons are two: 1) Falcao, Cavani and Aguero are 20mill cheaper. 2) Real needs an out and out striker, and the latter are that, while Suarez is that and more, but the "more" would be redundant to Real who already have excellent forwards down the flanks.

Falcao they can get for 50mill pounds (purchase price). For Cavani, PSG will want at least 55mill pounds (purchase price). City would let go of Aguero probably around 55mill too. So yes, Suarez is the most expensive of the bunch - and because Real will be looking for an out and out striker first and foremost, it might not make sense to go for a comprehensive forward at 75mill.

marca are told by real exactly what to write and thier media campaign is already planned. note that denials, distancing, rubbishing rumours as well as links are all common.

its a well defined game and you could tell that spurs dragged it far beyond the end game wanted as marca had no answers when it came to it.

i just think real think longer than people give them credit for and at suarez's age they wont see value in 5 years.

also... remeber that the thing as to be offset somehow in ffp and frankly the others names can be more easily catered to via selling khederia especially if utd or someone pay mad money.
