Real Madrid's striker summer hunt

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Livtor, Jun 9, 2014.

?

By the end of summer, Real's attack will include:

  1. same personnel, except Morata. CR7 will double as striker if needed.

  2. a new striker, not that expensive, understudy to Benzema

  3. will end up keeping Morata. Same personnel as this year.

  4. Suarez purchased for world-record fee.

  5. Suarez purchased after bitter saga for ~75 mill pounds.

  6. a new expensive striker, not Suarez however.

Real have officially stated Morata "has decided to leave in search of more minutes and the club has agreed it."

So that leaves only Benzema as their only out and out striker. Logically then, they should acquire a striker. Thus, their hunt begins, bells atolling.

Hopefully, FSG valiantly fight their slimy advances on Suarez. How, how successfully, and to what end... that is a matter to be seen, which also depends quite significantly on Suarez.

How does their striker search transpire by September?

I could see us accepting an offer for our star striker for around £90million. The big question though is, if Real offered us that much for him... would Aspas be willing to go?

Aguero is still their number one target and, I think, Cavani and Falcao second and third choice ahead of Suarez. I guess it's down to the other clubs' resolve as well as ours.

    1. there is no question to my mind. if real come in they will fight hard and run to the last second to get the lowest price. thus world record fee seems to be out of the question given his age.

    2. if benzema is not the guy then they will do this

Don't tell Lambert this but... At Suarez's age- he is "at-peak" for most strikers (past it for some). However since Suarez doesn't rely on pace (and Lambert doesn't either)- Luis may well have several years left "at-peak"- but you're right, for most clubs world record breaking fees for Suarez would be an unwise option. Real Madrid has always thrown money around though... so they could come in with a really silly bid yet.

Even if Suarez is at his peak now.. unless he has a dramatic drop in performance (which is unlikely) he'll still be our best striker for another 2 or 3 years.

Is cashing in on him now really worth the hassle of trying to find a replacement who, let's be honest unless we get very lucky, still wouldn't get near his potential.

Seems like an obsession with sell on value, but why not just keep him for another 4 years and then sell him for £10m - £15m when he's 31/32 and secured us CL football for 4 years in a row which will have generated more transfer money than selling him now for £70m and potentially missing out on the CL.

i do agree but also feel that while he has to have more years he's got the kuyt bug.. once his legs do his game will really go to pot. the work rate makes him special. the confidence and ability to make a strike like the newcastle disallowed one or norwich goals never goes but if the legs can't get you there....

which is why i think also that TGOA is prob right slightly younger options are on view too.

But he's not quick now so it's not like he's going to lose his main attribute. That is his close control and trickery along with his finishing.

Those things don't tend to decline too rapidly, especially as he's only 27? Has at least another 3 years in him.

Ronaldo is 29, he's hardly declined in the last few years and his game is more based on pace than Suarez is for sure.

When Drogba was 27 he had been at Chelsea just one year. Suarez has got at least 5 solid years left in him. He doesn't rely on pace, in fact he has very little!

That's nothing more than fantasy. Marca is their mouthpiece and they've started the game with regards to Suarez

  11. Where's the "none of the above" option...?

Can we not dress him up as Suarez and fly him off instead. They'll never tell.

I agree, Madrid had no interest in him last year and i see no reason why that should have changed.

They don`t try to buy everyone that scores 30 goals in one season and i can`t really see them being swayed by English football writers, ppoy? have you seen the list who have won that?

That's true... they'd definitely not try buying anyone that won it <ok>
