Half inspired by the soccer aid game last night and the insistence of getting some English players into the current squad.

Yes Englishness would be nice but we are a multicultural society and I welcome foreign players. My only concern is getting foreign players that are genuinely better than their English peers. For example if we somehow managed to sign Lukaku then I'd be over the moon, I don't think a current English striker comes close to him.

Anyway, best Prem English 11 vs foreign 11, which team would win ........ our club only and then whole premier league 11's.

Sorry I got cut short. I intended to make an English 11 for Newcastle and a ROW 11.

Turns out I haven't got time now..... kids.
However the our English team would have Shearer, Sir Les, Pedro and Woodgate but ROW would have Given, Colo, Robert and Daveed so for our club I'd say its close.

All prem 11 I think ROW would walk it

Messi has never graced premier league.
As stated my post was rushed.

Tough one Newcastle English v Newcastle Foreign

I'd go something like Given, Debuchy, Colo, Albert, Enrique, Ginola, Cabaye, Speed, Robert, Ba, Bellamy

Against Harper, Watson, Beresford, Woodgate, Peacock, Batty, Lee, Dyer, Beardsley, Ferdinand, Shearer

I think that is a tough call to be honest. I think the English contingent would just shade it. Pure class in both though.

Seems a bit of an odd thread? Bale, C. Ronaldo, Stam, Schmeichel, yada yada would/could feature for both sides.

    Andy Cole for Ferdinand?
    Tino for Ba?

Difficult one, but English XI for me.

Like Cole and did consider, I was trying to consider workrate and balance too. With Shearer being there, it would be tough for Coley where as Ferdinand adapted to it. Ba far better than Tino for me. Tino was talented but you never really knew which one was gonna turn up!

Good thread though to make you think about it!

    against
Given, Debuchy, Enrique, Coloccini, Albert, Solano, Ginola, Cabaye, Speed, Ba, Bellamy

    Premier League
Seaman, G.Neville, A.Cole, Adams, Terry, Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, Ince, Shearer, Cole
    against
Schmeichel, Lauren, Evra, Vidic, Stam, Y.Toure, Vieira, Keane, Ronaldo, Henry, Giggs

Both foreign teams would win for me.

Like others have said ..Nobby has to be in there ... and Dyer is the weak link in the English XI, for me ..just cant think of who to replace him with

Managed by KK in his pomp ..that ROW+England as a 22man squad ...would give the 1 billion squad of Man City a run for their money

Still no love for Marcelino I see though

Aye immediately realised my Nobby faux pas. I did consider others for Dyer but I picked him on his best form for us which was sensational. When you had him Bellamy, Jenas etc running around the likes of Shearer, Solano and Speed he was a gem. Shame he was a bit of a boyo, injury prone (probably linked to the former) and lost his way.

I would be inclined to drop Giggs but only because I'd have to have Van Nistelrooy in foreign 11
