Bad news him getting called up and it will play right in to Nicollin's hands regarding price. Unless of course he gets injured in the World Cup.

Him and Grenier would be nice.

That said if it gets too pricey, I'd be happy to look closer to home at Ince and Hughes.

I still think getting a Shawcross or Caulker type to replace the likes of Saylor and Mbiwa is something we need to look at.

They'd want at least £10m for Shawcross and probably about the same for Caulker. Not going to happen.

Indeed. That is a shame for me and shows how short term we are. I really like Shawcross and Caukler. I think we'll stick where we are centre back wise unless someone offers decent money for Saylor or Mbiwa. That is even less likely to happen after their performance levels.

This one is dead and buried. I don't hold out hope for players that are going to cost double figures anymore. We just refuse to pay it and expect selling clubs just to roll over.

Looks more Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang than Yohan Cabaye. But then we know all this - we will hold clubs to ransom because we did it once for Cabaye and think it must be easy to do again, and again, and again, when of course it's not. It'll probably be another window or two before Ashley realises it can't work anymore, but at that time I fully expect it to be too late.

Nonsense back about Gomis, no doubt the agent fees will get in the way again. Not that I was ever bothered about him signing, he's just an escape route for Pardew's hoofball.

Their chairman is one bitter dude.
He needs to be firmly put back in his box.

He said the same crap before MYM signed, but that said I still don't think we'll get Cabella.

Nicollin would be pleased as f*** if he could sell Cabella, but no club, not just us, but any other club will stump up the money he wants for him.

Montpellier aren't a rich club, so Nicollin will try and get what he can, and having turned us over once already with MYM, he no doubt fancies taking us to the cleaners again. He'll be hoping that Cabella actually gets some playing time at the WC, but that's not likely with him being a late replacement in the squad. Then it will be back to square one again hoping someone will cough up the right amount.

For all the bluster, you have to accept his target is very clear. He has another fringe French International he is purporting to be the next big thing. If he was out of this world, the big clubs would have already ended this debate. Same went for Mbiwa. Arsenal and Europes biggest looked, looked at the fee and thought no thanks. We took the plunge because we were desperado and its come back to bite us. I don't enough about Cabella to really judge whether he is that good. Maybe France have a very strong attacking midfield contingent and that is why he was a world cup reserve? However I'd be wary of Nicollin after last time.

I think we've blown our chances here now. Big shame.
