QPR Challenge Newcastle For Striker With Huge Wage Offer

10:55 pm, Sunday, June 8th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 25 Comments

The news in the Mirror is that Newcastle are trying to get Bafe Gomis signed up quickly, and they are offering him a massive £70K/week to try to stave off yet another late attempt by QPR to come in at the last minute, and do a deal for a Newcastle target.

Bafe Gomis – Newcastle offering big compensation

And after Newcastle failed to sign the Gomis last summer, Newcastle are reported to be moving quickly and are offering the French International huge wages in an effort to stave off QPR.

Thoughts come up immediately of seventeen months ago, when QPR moved in at the last moment and offered Loic Remy massive wages – when they were bottom of the league – and that was in a financial year in which they later reported they had lost a massive £65M in their last Premier League season, and have a total of £177M in debts.

And they are likely to sustain big losses in the current financial year through the end of June, because their wage bill is bigger than their total revenues, and they have spent a season in the Championship, which have seen revenues drop 25% with their new TV deal.

And QPR have already been threatened with a fine as big as £60M by the Football League – which is pending as part of their Financial Fair Play rules – - so hopefully they will not try to play the same trick again- and if they do they should be punished accordingly.

In fact it seems to be a fight between Newcastle and QPR again – after QPR reportedly offered the 28 year-old striker huge wages – which Newcastle’s £70K/week has topped.

After QPR are already in trouble with the league about their overspending, we would be shocked if they are allowed to keep spending big money they simply do not have.

This looks like the Loic Remy deal all over again – but Newcastle are wiser now.

I think Dr Harrison must be a pseudonym for Mike Ashley.

Who are they to say its money we don’t have. TF, Mittal and co obviously have enough money to sign Gomis!!

The point Newcaslte fans still don’t understand is that QPR in the Premiership is just as big a club as Newcastle in the Premiership. Neither team has won **** all for decades. Yes St James Park is bigger than loftus road but as found out with Remy…’so young French millionaire where would you like to live London or Newcastle?’

Not a very difficult question to answer that… except if you’re an ignorant Geordie

EDIT: So by that i mean we can offer the same money as Newcastle and still get the player

Dr Ed Harrison is a Geordie who went to live in the USA in 1973 to work for IBM.

Retired 10 years ago and "now devotes his time to Newcastle United".

Basically he trawls for every word said about NUFC and sticks it on his blogg.

Another one of those who thinks that anything that he reads about NUFC that is good and he agrees with must be 100% fact and everything that shows them in a bad light or that he disagrees with is obviously made up. (Like one or two on here!)

Wants to believe anything bad about opponents - whether on the field or behind the scenes.

Something tells me that they are big fools if NUFC are going to offer him large wages because QPR have. I am sure his agent has told Newcastle that we have ... and they are stupid enough to fall for it.
