Humid here - just been out to take some recycling to the bins and as I had to walk past the harbour, I had a fleece on - big mistake as I was a bit hot. Festival of motoring here this weekend, meaning a few road closures on the island.
Weather turned in the afternoon and I got the grass cut and we sat at in the sun for a BBQ at 7PM and it was still lovely and warm. Off to a friends for a BBQ and CRUK fund raiser this afternoon. She has just finished her last Chemo session after BC and is doing the race for life this morning. My old mum would have been 79 today - god bless.
Last night we had a cracking electrical storm with the whole sky lighting up. It only lasted about an hour and was not that much of a surprise after the heat through the day. I quite enjoy watching such light shows, but Mme keeps inside the house and is pleased when it has passed. Today it is forecast that we will have more of the same, very hot during the day and a risk of more boom, boom this evening. Our little hamlet is flooded with people wandering up and down the lane trying to get a signal for their mobile phones. Our neighbour had her birthday this week and her four children, other halves and grandchildren are all here to celebrate with her. As they all live in the Paris area keeping in touch for a whole weekend is vital. Tomorrow is another public holiday, so they might be here for that as well. They are all friendly and have helped out when I needed computer problems resolved.
Talking of Boom Boom who is your most memorable character on Children's BBC? Vote here on www.radiotimes.com/children Not sure whether to go for Bill & Ben (when I was a real kid) or Dylan from the Magic Roundabout (when I was a bigger kid). Depends on your era I suppose, most of the recent characters don't have long careers it seems.
Wow, some real old favourites there! The poll closes on 30/06/2014, ironically my eldest son's 43rd birthday!
Lovely day here. Went to farmers market in Winchester this morning and bought smoked trout, game stew mix, goat meat, lamb fillets, pork shoulder, local cheeses and asparagus. After a restful lunch of local pork pie, dug up a bit of shady, mossy ground this afternoon which has been good for nothing but moss since we moved here. Just got to decide what to do with it now.
Noggin the Nog was the best ever....and Oliver Postgate the best voice. Brian the Snail would be my second choice...very dry sense of humour.
Camberwick Green was the best in my opinion - and Mr Benn. oh and dave - I'm a year and a week older than your son!
Hammering it down to close the weekend here in Mexico, it doesn't rain much, but when it does there isn't much holding back. Roll on the world cup, I don't care who wins really, I just hope to see some good open games. Andale. Have a good week all
A real summer day here. Very warm,31°C in the shade and only this evening have some light fluffy clouds appeared. My good French friends and family went out for lunch at 12.00 noon and returned at 16.30. By 20.00 they were all sitting down for their evening meal in their barn. No wonder they all seem rather overweight!
Morning all from an overcast but muggy West West London. Looks like Lyod had a rather torrid time last night, I did not watch the game as I was out - did anyone see how he played? I will go for Noggin The Nog as well for my childhood favourite. It would seem that I share my Birthday today with Donald Duck who is 80 today! - I am just a bit younger!
