To take every one's thoughts away from managers and players coming and going I thought you might like this joke told to me by mate in the pub last night.

Two old men, Mike and Joe, have been friends all of their lives. When it's clear that Joe is dying, Mike visits him every day.

One day Mike says, "Joe, we have both loved football all our lives and we played together on Saturdays for so many years.
Please do me one favour, when you get to Heaven, somehow you must let me know if there's football up there."

Joe looks up at Mike from his death bed, "Mike, you've been my best friend for many years. If it's at all possible, I'll do this favour for you."

Shortly after that, Joe passes on.

At midnight a couple of nights later, Mike is awakened from a sound sleep by a blinding flash of white light and a voice calling out to him, "Mike--Mike."

"Who is it?" Asks Mike sitting up. "Who is it?"

    "It's me, Joe."

"You're not Joe. Joe just died."

"I'm telling you, it's me, your old mate Joe." insists the voice.

    "Joe! Where are you?"

"I'm in heaven", replies Joe. " and I have some really good news and a little bad news."

"Tell me the good news first." says Mike.

"The good news," Joe says," is that there's football in heaven. Better yet, all of our old friends who died before us are here, too. Better than that, we're all young again. Better still, it's always spring time and it never rains or snows. And, best of all, we can play football all we want, and we never get tired."

"That's fantastic," says Mike. "It's beyond my wildest dreams! So what's the bad news?"

"You're in the team for this Saturday."

Really? Watched it not long ago. Could be a birthday or Christmas gift from someone? It was from the most recent tour, of which the name escapes me right now. The theme is obviously 'coming over here' but he brilliantly de-constructs the argument through history..............well, you'll get round to it no doubt.

Andy Murray has appointed Amelie Mauresmo as his new coach. Interesting choice...he says he has been a huge of admirer of hers.

Big gamble IMO. I would have gone for John McEnroe. That would have been fun.

"The football club, which HMRC did not name, made staff pay for their uniforms and also made deductions for travelling time, had to pay arrears of more than £27,500 to 3,000 workers."

I guess that is a typo, surely a club would only have about 300 employess and not all of them would have been underpaid.

Hmm, very clever. Even cleverer still that they let the furore take place so that their name gets a bit of extra exposure. Yes, I know they said they wanted to bring exposure to the issue of cutting down the rainforest, but I don't believe them. Not really. They're not in the right business for me to think that they've done their little joke purely as a noble act. Fair play to them if I have misjudged. I'll give them [*cough* - the issue] a little more exposure.

Sounds more like Askham and Lowe, but then they've gone. Vincent Tan, or is that being as obvious as suggesting that one's own club is bound to be at fault..?

I said Cortese because I was thinking of how he laid off the programme sellers because it was cheaper to use paid staff (though he may also have thought it looked more professional). However, I believe when Nicola and Markus took over, the wage packages improved at Saints and he insisted on everyone going to the Xmas do, so I may be maligning him.

I know quite a number of you holiday or work in France and I wonder what your opinion is. I was doing some reading today about wool and the one thing that struck me was I can not remember ever having seen sheep in France. Do the French keep sheep? It is not a meat you often see on menus.

I was thinking that too. The whole "raising awareness" thing just sounded like a last minute cobbled together excuse after they realised that it hadn't gone down as well as they thought.

Nadal wins the French Open, beating Djokovic 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-4. That is his 5th French Open title in a row, and 9th in total. He now has 14 Grand Slam wins.

Yup. At least in my life, I'm £60 up on Paddy Power. :D That'll be £85 if we appoint Koeman too. Every little helps.
