Billy sharp is, in my view, quite capable of playing at premier league level if he wanted. The truth is he is more focused on his charity now and good luck to him. He knows what's really important in life, and it's not money and glory. To be a successful premier league footballer you need to be 100% committed

 

All well and good, and good luck if that's the case. However we're talking about whether he should be given a go in Southampton's team next season, and sorry but the answer is no.

 

In terms of his footballing ability, it is a definite no.

 

I think Billy should have been given a chance when we first gained promotion (I still find his quick fall from grace as odd), but now, no.

Maybe I'm being over optimistic but I don't think we will sell any other player this summer that we would rather keep. Simply because we will price them to high, Liverpool won't pay 30million for lallana because they can get much better cheaper players abroad.

Luke, Adam & Morgan have all come out and said they want to play champions league football which is something we're not going to be able to provide. From reports Adam sounds like the one who is most itching to go, so it will probably be an overall benefit to let him go now. The manager will have to put together a new front three for the start of the season, but at least he will have a solid base to build on.
Then in a years time with Wanyama, JWP & Reed a little more experienced we can let Morgan leave.

 

I just have this dream of a crop of young and talented Southampton youngsters coming together at the same time and wanting[ to stay together. A group capable of pushing for the CL. That would be the point at which we could be said to have revolutionised the academy system.

Shaw kept going on about the joy of playing in a side with people he'd known since he was 8. It would be great to keep him and his buddies and make next season an even more amazing adventure.

The dream is still there I think but for every saints coach reminding them that it is the collective strength that makes them look good, there is an agent (or parent) trying to make a fast buck by saying they are too good for this shower.

Not wishing ill on anyone but we actually need a few to move and disappear into obscurity to show the grass is not greener.

 

Surely all they need to do is cancel the loan?

As for Billy Sharp, I'd say he's a better player than Le fondre is. He managed to get a load of goals off the bench.
