I wouldn't want gfdiscopants as my defence lawyer .....

" On balance, he deserved to be sacked as we were going down.
The fact that he left us with a bunch of players who were verging on the dross is annoying and further backs up the valid of why he was sacked."

I personally think he cares about Steve Bruce, he has no loyalty to any club and never supported one, didn't even go to watch Newcastle.

I don't know anyone who's obsessed with Bruce but he doesn't help by continually talking about Sunderland.

Sunderland were the first thing he talked about when Hull scraped promotion and he even talked about us on Cup Final day.

    Now that's obsession.

Try and be kind (ish) to me. I have sat on the sidelines for a while listening in and really enjoying the debate and banter from you all. It is time I threw in my thoughts when I can. Thank to all for some enjoyable reading after some rather tough days both at work and in the old personal life.

Everyone takes the piss out of each other on here, no offence and welcome <ok>

Throw your thoughts in mate but remember it's a forum for opinions so not everyone will agree with you.

Fair point Smug and am happy to be shouted down as I will not get everything right. I just suspect that if someone trawled through older threads they would not be able to pull out as much abuse about other managers as there is about Brucey. I may be wrong. Some of the comments on some of the threads do read as though there is still an obsessiveness about him. He hasn't been our worst boss by a long (long) way. Anyway, enough Bruce defending for me for one day as otherwise I too will become guilty of being obsessed:

Not shouting you down mate, just giving my opinion on Bruce.

I didn't want Bruce as manager, didn't enjoy his time here and was very happy when he was sacked.

That would've been soon forgotten if he'd managed to keep his fat mouth shut about his 'glorious reign' and 10th place.

He's managed to turn people against him who previously supported him with his constant references to Sunderland.

I don't know how the Hull supporters put up with it tbh ......... if Poyet was always on about Brighton I'd be well pissed off.

You agree that he deserved to be sacked or that 'it was clear that he cared about the club' ...........

I agree with gfi and your posts have been really well written. A great addition to the board.

I like Bruce as a man and I'm positive he gave everything to succeed here. He just didn't have it in him at the end and I felt sorry for him, the abuse he took from some of our fans. It's that abuse which I think has left a sour taste for him towards our club and he now seems to want to prove those people wrong.

Wouldn't have him back and it was the right thing to sack him but I have absolutely no ill feeling toward the man.

Perhaps being sacked for almost getting us relegated didn't help ..... he's more used to quitting than getting the boot.

I'm with the majority here, if catchers mit face had been able to handle the bent and gyan affairs differently then the whole story would have had a different outcome, his heart was in the club but ultimately he f**ked the job up and failed. He ended up taking **** for being ****, ie playing no striker (tactical genius - not)

He left under a cloud but made it worse by sniping

Reidy got swilled ffs but will remain a legend

Bruce will hold some canny memories but will always be regarded (by most) as a bitter, could have been, nearly was, fgb

Anyway he has little to no chance of keeping hull in the prem whilst embarking on a uefa mission and he will know it, he's not daft

Looks canny on his cv right now though

I agree with all what he said.. When Bruce got it right, we had Gyan, Hendo, sess, welbeck all in the same team. We played some wonderful football, with the best team with had since Reid.

He also deserved the sack because his best players left, and he didnt replace them properly. He had lost the plot, but when he had it right, IMO it was great football under Bruce.

Yes I did think he cared about the club, it was a massive chance for Bruce at sunderland, and he still regrets it going wrong to this day, hence the reason he still talks about us.

Spot on - it must be a huge regret, he was being talked about for england and man u (his ultimate dream) then he ****ed it up big time, safc was his big shot, what he has done at hull has gone some way to repairing his reputation but he's still a long way off being where he was when he was here, poyet is miles ahead of him already, but we are just a little club <ghost>

Anyone who believes in Bruce and his managerial expertise at Hull should look at the facts.

He brought Hull up by accident, despite our generosity, almost blew it & won 1 of his last 7 ...... Hull had a magnificent +9 goal difference.

Hull reached the final by beating Boro, Southend, Brighton, Sunderland & 3rd division Sheff Utd.

They only survived relegation thanks to the gift of 6 points from Sunderland but still finished below us.

Bruce will mention the 'curse of the Europa League' more times than Hull will win points next season.

His traditional 'post-Christmas slump' will be preceded by a pre-Christmas slump and they'll go down .....
....... unless he walks out and goes to Southampton <ok>

My problem is that he always puts the blame on the club & the supporters ........ he only ever mentions the 10th place and none of the ****.

He was used to walking out on clubs so being booted out, for the first time iirc, was a right kick in the face,

He will feel regret and bitterness about the situation. At one point he has a team playing great football with exciting players. The next thing, the club offloads the players and he has to rebuild, which unfortunately he didnt manage..

IMO since we were promoted, he's the manager who's had the best players, played the best football and brought the most excitement. I was proud to watch sunderland under Bruce when he had it right. But also wanted him out when it went to pot, his time was up.

I think Bruce is bitter but so are many fans, because many (me included) thought we were going places under him, only for it to fall apart.

I like Bruce as a manager, he can certainly spot a player, but there are elements in his ways that prevent him being a top manager.

I'm thankful for his good days here, and I, like many should, move on.

I'd say everyone has moved on.

Commenting on ex-players and ex-managers is all part of the crack, everyone does it ........ people still talk about Ashurst & Durban.

I find it's funny that people, who support Bruce, always suggest he brought in the good players but it was the club that sold them.

His good days weren't that good imo ......... scraped to a 10th finish, on the back of last day freak results, and bombed out of the cups.

He was given money to spend and wasted a lot of it.
