just when you thought it was safe again, I raise my head from my bed of pain with the usual be very careful warning! But I assure you it'a been 2 weeks 0f hell and with more to come!!! Dave This London is a very strange place.
**** me I feel like I've been run over - I did a 12 mile cliff top run around the island of Portland yesterday for charity. My little one got me up at 5:30 (little ****!). I can hardly feel my left foot, weird - might have to get it checked out. Running across rocks isn't the most sensible thing to do! Is this bar open FFS I need a few dark rums NOW.
Mate it was harsh. From the 2nd mile till the end it was pure agony, just had to push on through it. ****ing dangerous too. I take it no-one has been to portland (Dave may have in his sailing days) but it's got some mad terrain, at some points the only option we had was to jump from rock to rock, on the side of a cliff. I arranged it and 7 of us done it and we raised a fair bit of money for a local based charity 'help the homeless'. So it was worth it, but I wouldn't do it again thats for sure!!
Yeah sound like you went a bit too far and I dunno perhaps you've done the local stuff already but usually your organisation and fundraising efforts are what generate the money rather than event difficulty. Still nobody fell off and needed air ambulance at massive cost
Yeah I've done similar things before, but this was a little bit too extreme. We agreed that next time we'd tone it down a bit - otherwise someone could get seriously injured or even worse die! I get what your saying about event difficulty not generating the money - and you're spot on. We're just adrenaline junkies, but that's the one and only time we'll take it to that level. Trouble is we're running out of things to do, we've done the standard things like sky diving etc. Have to get my thinking cap on
We visited the lighthouse. It was one of the better days for weather too, only a bit of drizzle. Can imagine that being hard and painful. Not small rocks either.
I thought so, adrenalin is one thing and just suffering is another. I did the skydiving thing but really if you look for the buzz keeping it fresh is hard
We ran straight down past the lighthouse (Portland Bill) then across to the left, which eventually takes you to a place called Fancies Farm. The rocks down by Portland Bill are huge, but luckily most are overlapping so it wasn't too difficult. Saint - So you've been to Portland Bill. Very famous lighthouse due to the books written. He actually sat inside the lighthouse to write every single one of those books and not a word was written without him being inside it. It's an odd island - if you say "Rabbit" you're likely to get lynched. Plus there is a lot of inter-breeding going on. If you drive round Weymouth, you'll see plenty of cars with stickers on the back saying "Keep Portland Weird". It's an Island with beautiful scenery but with a population of complete ****wits It was a great day yesterday to be honest, although I can't even get up the stairs today! It will certainly be a day that I'll remember for a long time.
