Goodness, that's another good read. I wouldn't call it exhaustive because it was so well written that it drew the reader in. It came to an end all too soon.

I thought it was great, personally. I just think some will look at it and think 'sod that', and that'd be a crying shame.

He didn't mention asset stripping, really. At least not in the formal sense of accusing KL of just selling off pieces for maximum profit. He just said that it looked like our assets might be stripped, which is certainly true-- other clubs are coming in and trying to take our best assets and he blames it on the way the league is set up, not on the board or owners.

    That was awesome, enjoyed that.
It is a shame if the core of the team who got us to where we are today gets taken out. Hopefully it won't be that way and not every one of them goes. Hopefully we will also get some new players in next season who could turn out great, with a new manager to boot!

pass the football - I too don't like the term asset stripping, but people are just using it as a fancy term for selling players!

That's some pretty twisted logic there. He used the words "assets" and "stripped" in the same sentence. By any definition he mentions asset stripping. If he wanted to give a different impression he should have used different words.

Very good read and I think very true of how a lot of us are feeling currently.

Oh for God's sake PTF, give it a break. You know perfectly well he didn't mean "asset stripping" in the commercially banded use if the word, but conveniently rearranged a phrase to indicate that some of our assets were being stripped from us. Stop being so bloody particular, just for once.

If you could put your preconceptions aside for a change you'd notice I'm not the one being particular.

Read it again. Yes, you're being particular. Have a read above. That was you.

Oh good. Another thread derailed by a pointless and stubborn dispute over semantics. Deep joy.

I'm not going to get into some tedious drawn-out discussion with you though as it's pointless. I would suggest though, that in all these arguments you get into there's one common denominator. Have a think about that will you?

Anyhow, regardless, it's a good article, and a good read. Back on topic.

I thought it was a good piece. Was it just me or did the use of the "F" word at the end seem a bit unnecessary? I must be getting old...

That's an excellent read and shows how football makes air of us feel.

For those expressing their displeasure at the the use of the term "asset stripping," try seeing it not as its literal business meaning, but for how it is being used; a rather apt phrase that explains some of our emotions, should we continue to lose some of our best players.

I want to know why other teams sell players, but only we have our assets stripped. Perhaps its a hidden compliment because our players are real assets or it's just the mot de jour (<-- good, eh<laugh>).

Good read, I actually think that the "F" word really enhanced the point that was being made. When such language is only used once in a piece, it really makes that point jump out and pretty much sums up most peoples feelings towards Liverpool on the subject.

P.s. Enjoyed the article...does sum up how we all feel. Ruined for me by the fact that long pieces are very hard to read on my computer as it keeps shooting by. Usually takes me about 5 attempts to read the whole thing and then only by reducing the image to 50% so I can read it in bigger chunks.
