Just been reading through some articles and came across this story about David Vaughan and his protracted free transfer.....

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will have talks with Blackpool's Wales international David Vaughan about joining on a free transfer next week.

Vaughan wants to stay in the top flight despite being offered a decent deal by the relegated Seasiders - and Bruce has him on his short-list of targets.

The experienced play-maker has had other offers, but Sunderland are the biggest club and he looks set to join if he is convinced that he will be in the plans for a starting place in Bruce's team.

The lad clearly wants to come here, if we can satisfy his own ambitions (ie play games).

He'd never have been considered for a club like ours before last year, but he deserves a crack at a bigger club after last season, and isn't gonna go much higher than us , realistically.

I don't feel we will be able to offer him the game time he'll be hoping for, and as a result, i think we'll see him elsewhere next season.

He's a decent signing for someone , definitely.

Yeah, he would be a good signing IMO but not if he wants guarantees of first team football. That has to be earned like any other player.

Sign him up, give him a few games and sell him on for 2-3 mil if it doesn't work out...

You have to wonder where he'd fit.

Sess, Seb and new left winger are shoe ins, Catts, JC, and Meyler are fighting for one place.

Unless we are camping 5 across the middle, he's struggling for games, and he deserves to play.

WBA would be a smashing move for him, and for them.

Where he'd fit would be as a midfielder who didn't quit on games, like some in the second half of last season. He's not the best, but he's a trier.

He's a good player Sid, and i wouldn't be upset if we signed him, i just think he will decide he'll be better suited elsewhere.

    We'll see.

My girlfriend kept mentioning this next next level thing to me.

Not once has she brought an attractive friend home though.

I don't stray to the channel 9 something somethings any more after a very awkward incident I don't think I want to relive. All I'll say is if you're going to stray... Make sure your remote control's batteries have a bit of energy left in them.

I hope you were given fair warning otherwise that seems like excessive on the blue balls scale.
