He clearly isn't the superstar everyone wants him to be, so I suggest we buy Fab and offload popeye while he still has some value. If we hold onto him for another season and he performs as blandly as the last, then we will drop a tonne of cash when we eventually sell. Not a wum - I seriously do not rate him as highly as most seem to. Back in a week - off to the land of tin mines and pasties
Rubbish, Far too early to make that claim. It was his first season, and he didnt perform too badly either. He tapered off as the season went on but far too early to give up on him
He finished the season strongly when he came back from injury. I think the physical nature of the PL took him by surprise but he will settle down. I'm looking forward to him proving he was worth the money and when we get a decent striker to play in front of him it will help him no end.
Ozil is a class above. I have no doubts he will make a serious impact at Arsenal. Wenger knows what he's talking about When he says he 'will be amongst the candidates for best player next Season'. Mourihno "Ozil is the best no. 10 in the World" - much as I can't stand the man he knows his football.
I think he had a decent first season, made plenty of assists grabbed a handful of goals too, he faded after Christmas but he was carrying an injury and then was out for a while. It was always going to be a tough first season for him in the PL adapting to the pace and physicality of the league. The transfer fee is always going to be used as a yardstick, but Ozil can't do anything about that. I'm confident that he's shown enough in his first season with us to be satisfied that he's going to be a huge player for Arsenal and the premier league.
All we need is a better striker, then we'll see Ozil's full potential. His game is creating chances with smart passing, hard to do that when the CF can barely move to get onto the chances.
He had a rocky period half way through the season and then he picked up an injury but Arsenal suffered a lot of injuries and that did not help the team. He started the season very well and he was also good at the end. I wish we still had him at Madrid. We will have him back if you like!
I agree with the OP...Ozil is crap...sell to us we buy crap...we'll give you our good players like...soldado...you need a striker dontcha
I really don't understand this Ozil is crap rubbish. Every time I saw him play I thought he was rock solid, one of the three best players on the pitch. He was clearly still getting used to the players around him and would not anticipate correctly when passing or making a run, but otherwise I thought he was nearly perfect. Just didn't see this performing blandly I keep reading about.
I think he will came back stronger for the next season. Mertesacker also needed some time to shine. As for the millions spent on transfers - the top few transfers carry bizzare price tags IMO. they have nothing to do with football, but more with financial gorillas stretching their muscles... hence the need for FFP rules.
He was way more effective in his first season than I expected him to be considering our CF options, he will only get better.
Agreed. We all know he didn't hit his best form but he was still better than 95% of the leagues midfielders. At 100% Ozil is up there with the best creative players on the planet.
this is absolutely the nailed on answer - Ozil to fast thinking and fleet footed Striker is ideal. also looking forward to Ozil to Theo
I also don't see the criticism he gets .... he is one of the few players that actually play the ball FORWARD and not sideways like many other players. Many times he picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch plays a 20meter ball forward and by doing that the entire team shifts from middle of the pitch to the final third of the pitch...where things can happen. When you look at the compilation of ramsays season you can see many times the provider or creator before was ozil. He does need to improve in his tackling cuz he seems afraid to get "stuck in" like wilshere and ramsey.
If we had better forward players the Ãzil would have taken the EPL by storm. Having such a slow team really hasn't helped his cause but when Aaron is playing he looks so much more dangerous. Get Theo back in the team and add someone with more pace than Giroud (not hard, everyone is quicker) and I think we'll be laughing.
For me , Arsenals main threat and pace is Theo . He is key to our success. That we have finished fourth and won something without him is really quite remarkable. Cant wait till he is back again .
it is unusual to see the word Striker , and Soldado in the same sentence . Maybe this one ..... " Feck me ive had enough of this lame striker , Soldado MUST be sold in the window."
