If you believe that then you are very naïve. The only person who has owned Hull City and everyone thought he did it because he loved the club was Harold Needler. Even he made money on the back of the club.
The club might show a loss on the balance sheet but the individual's personal wealth at the top of the club will be cast iron.
Assem Allam's biggest flaw so far is his PR. If he had a firm working for him who were even a tiny bit more street wise as to how a football club is run and seen to be run then he would be a hero today.
Like everyone before him and all those who take over from him, make no mistake, then are all in it for the money.
If you cannot eke a 'living' wage out of an annual turnover of £100m plus then you don't deserve to be in charge of an ice cream van, never mind a Premiership football club.

He has tried a couple of times already and to be fair if he did succeed TWS would still show an annual loss but AP wouldn't need to be applying for family tax credits.

From our point of view, he transformed the club from flatlining no hoper into vibrant second tier outfit, completely overhauling the infrastructure, mentality, expectations, professionalism and standards.

People tend to forget what the club was like when he arrived - and take for granted what we have now.

He also made money from other non football investments that came about from getting to know other local businessmen via Hull City. Good for him, his investments in Hull have benefited Hull, not least Hull City AFC.

We indeed have a lot to thank Adam Pearson for. Personally I think the biggest gratitude we can bestow on him was the fact that he realised the potential those of us who were still supporting the club in those days always knew we had.
It didn't take a genius to turn the club around or relight the enthusiasm simply because those who he replaced had done such a lousy job of it for a very long time. Likewise Peter Taylor. Hull City just needed a bit of care and attention to drag itself off the bottom of the Football ladder. But credit to Pearson he took a modest gamble and it paid off big time.
The last twelve years just show how neglected our club had been.

I was answering the poster who claimed that Pearson lost money.
Not taking his work here for granted.

Obviously they can pay themselves a wage, but football clubs rarely make money, particularly ones of our size playing at this level. They usually have to put money in to keep it going.

Where have you got that figure from? Isn't that roughly what the club was sold for? Remember he wasn't the money man, it was that Wilkinson guy, so he'll have got that money and even he will have made a loss overall I'm sure.

Bartlett bought City for £12m. I think Pearson owed Wilkinson about £6m. So £7m is about right for Pearson.

Pearson also repaired the badly-broken relationship between club and fans, systematically dealing with all gripes, grumbles and complaints in his meetings with fans.

He did this to the extent that in the end the meetings became an irrelevance because there was no longer owt to whinge about except pie forks.

This was from a set of fans who had been lied to, deceived, let down and pissed on by previous owners, and who were deeply suspicious of any owner.

He had a 'can do' attitude unlike the '**** you' attitude of some of the more recent owners.

He's the only chairman in my time who's had his name sang at away games. He really was that good. I'm amazed so many people have forgotten.

As opposed to the Allams who appeared at the height of our success and have done nowt about the infrastructure, mentality, expectations, professionalism and standards? Lol, before the Allams, even in 2008, the club was a joke in regards to professionalism and efficiency. You really can't bring yourself to admit that, even online? Bless ya.

There's none so blind as those that won't see eh?

You're obviously ignoring Chazz, but using your obsession with me to gain your attention, have you done a count up of the no v yes for this thread yet? I assume you'd support and agree with the people in the majority too and if say, the no's win this sorta-poll of yours, and the self serving AP was to try and make an appearance, you'd join the No AP While We're Alive group? Yeah, need to work on the name of that campaign group.

Not while we have a hole in our arses seems a little long.

Well that's not true at all. Dr Allam has a couple of songs which include his name.

Just because we weren't as aware of what was going on at the time, and didn't see him for what he was at the time, doesn't make him a "great" or "good" chairman. As this thread clearly illustrates (pending a count up of course), the majority of people would not want him back.

    Need a hand counting?

Or, because it didn't go the way you wanted it to, you're just going to ignore it?
