I should have known you'd answer, Beefy. Sometimes, I can't take account a your dyslexia. Take a look back and you'll notice the question mark at the end of my sentence. It's a proposal, not a statement. I'll try to be more careful next time. :)

Yep, that was so poor. Was it not banned..? I mean, what sort of moral argument would they have had if enough people had complained..? Sorry, it was only a joke..?

I know it wasn't a statement. I was just saying not all gamblers are the same. :)

The Pines, where old Bernard and his wife are, is literally just round the corner from me. I just drove past and there's still TV vans etc parked outside. Quite the last thing he'd want - "a fuss" - I'd speculate.

Just for the record, they didn't refuse him permission to leave - he can come and go from there as he pleases - just they hadn't been able to book him on the approved coach over.

Any chance the council will keep the goalposts out in the summer this year? It being a world cup year and all? Always found it very frustrating that they take them down in the summer.

Yeah this is true, but there are quite a few parks near me with designated areas for cricket that are a fair whack (more than a 6) away from the goalposts.

Even on parks where there isn't a cricket ground the goal posts tend to come down anyway. Back in the day, when I used to go for a kick about the council used to say they took them down to let the grass recover properly, ready for the new season. They would reseed the goal mouth so wanted to keep us away.

Christopher Hitchens was at the same venue, supporting Fry. He was less polite, shall we say. From a few years back, as Hitchens is now deceased.
