Saw this on the BBC website. Teams will probably reflect peoples ages.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-27699398

    My team

    DINO ZOFF

BERTIE VOGTS FRANZ BECKENBAUER BOBBY MOORE PAOLO MALDINI

    LOTHAR MATTHAUS SOCRATES DUNGA

    JOHANN CRUYFF PELE DIEGO MARADONA

Have gone for solid but classy defenders. Balance of flair, hard working and stylish midfield. Attackwise the ball has to be played on the deck.

Have a go and post your teams and your reasoning.

I went Buffon, Cafu, Maldini, Baresi, Beckenbauer, Matthaus, Zidane, Pirlo, Zico, Maradona, Muller.

I know, no Pele, but Muller's goal record (at WC's) was better when arguably football had advanced. Don't hate me.

    ------------Ronaldo (fat one)---Maradona-----

    -----Ronaldo-------Zidane-----Pirlo-------------Zico------
    --(spoilt brat one)

    ---R. Carlos--------Desailly---Beckenbauer---Maldini

    -------------------------Buffon------------------------------

Reckon the inevitable punch-up when it came to who took free-kicks would be hilarious <laugh>

Good line up I'd maybe put Gordon Banks in as goalie.

    Zico

Carlos Alberto - Moore - Beckenbaur - Maldini (I really do think that beck and moore is simply the 'correct' answer for the back two)

    Ronaldo - Platini - Zidane

    Maradona - Pele - Cryuff

There is a question whether realistically any of these teams would play well together.

For my eleven it would have to be Socrates or Gascoigne. As much as I love Gazza and would say he was the best 18yo I ever saw live I don't think he went on to fulfill his natural talent especially after the Notts Forest Cup Final. Socrates on the other hand.......

Shearer again a great centre forward old school style but I still couldn't pick him ahead of Cryuff, Pele or Maradona.

    ------------------Zoff---------------------
    Cafu-------Baresi--Passerela-----Maldini
    Cryuff--Maradona-Messi-Puskas--Ronaldo
    -----------------Ronaldo------------------

I've sacked common sense in favour of all out attack. I reckon my back line can deal with anything <laugh> Basically I found it impossible once you think of Moore, Beckenbauer, Bergomi, Zico, Mattheus, Rikjaard, Gullit, Platini, Zidane, Vieira, Keane, Garrincha, Pele, Hagi, Laudrup, Schmeichel, Banks, Charlton...................................its ****ing endless!
