Which we will hopefully replace with a new signing. Which will put Mayuka even further down the list.

Well he'll get a chance in pre-season with a new manager. If he wants to continue at this level then it's last chance saloon time

Yeah, I don't see why Mayuka wouldn't get a chance to impress, even if it's only a brief one. I agree I don't think he's good enough but it would be kind of silly for a new coach coming in not to even take a look.

That's what pre-season is for. And it's not like we have too many players in camp. If anything we'll have too few. That, or Lallana/Ramirez will need a break anyway after playing in WC.

I wonder if Billy Sharp will get a chance with the first team (I think he's still under contract with us?). if he was about it might placate Lallana a bit as they seemed to be close mates during the promotion season.

Don't think he is PL quality but surely everyone deserves a shot.

Reckon Koeman will bring Stefan de Vrij with him? 22 year old CB in the Dutch team for the world cup. Said he'd probably be going to the prem this season

No. He's a championship level striker, so why bother?

If we are paying for him anyway why not let him train with us. His style never fit in with how we played, I don't know what system we will play under the new manager but it may suit him more. You are right though his level does appear to be Championship, although he didn't get any time with us in the PL to show otherwise.

Sharp might be a player to bring off the bench for a goal. Worth a go

I've been very surprised no one has purchased Sharp since it became clear he wouldn't be playing for us. Can't remember the exact figure being banded around that we supposedly wanted for him, but it didn't seem too much for a proven scorer in the Championship (I think it was about £1.5 mil?).

Unlikely I would say De Vrij, Martins Indi and Claasie have all been linked to bigger clubs than us.

Sadly, he's had two not very good years in the Championship. Doubt he'd want to take a wage cut either with a young child to support.

Very true. How much longer does he have on his contract with us, anyone know? Not much longer I would have thought now.

(Also, Dan, what is that in front of Poortvliet in your signature?! It's really bugging me not knowing what it is!)

Ah, makes sense, what with the Aston Martin too, I'm just stupid! I thought it looked like he had his hand up a gerbils backside, me and my twisted mind <laugh>

It's one of my favourite pictures through the years just because of how ridiculous it is. Sums him up perfectly. "Lee Holmes is as good as Arjen Robben" was a personal highlight of his time with us.

I guess the main reason no one has come in to buy Sharpy is the fact that he is on £20k week, not a figure most Championship clubs would be able to support regardless of his reduced transfer fee
