You really don't need to read past the first paragraphs. No right back will have a career as successful as him.

He played in 4 tournaments, came runners up in one and won two, one as captain. The last one he was a 36 year old and i'm sure he'll admit that he wasn't up to it.

    Awful.

    See my Kenny Sansom post.

I could have looked good in some of those Brazilian sides.

I'll take you seriously as soon as you name a right back that's was as good as him.

    Yashin
    Carlos Alberto Moore Desailly Brieghel

    Jairzinho Deshamps Charlton Rivelino

    Maradona Pele

Everyone picks Maldini, Brieghel had a ****ing brilliant WC, beast of a man thundered up n down the left flank

Everyone picks Pele and Maradona all hypothetical but theres no way in the world would they play together. Pele would kick **** out of the midget.

I think Asbo has revealed an embarrassing blind spot in his football knowledge here - anyone who saw Cafu play enough would recognise his quality.

His main argument against Cafu seems to be that he won a lot of international caps, which is curious.

I'm only picking players I was around to see. So that's France 98 onwards.

    Buffon
    Cafu Thuram Cannavaro Maldini
    Figo Zidane Sneijder Ronaldinho
    Ronaldo Klose

I have massive gaps in my footballing knowledge- I don't profess to know the be all and end all about players, I don't watch La Liga etc

Was Cafu as good as Dunga?

Considering Dunga was a DM and Cafu was a RB, it's hard to compare.

    Never tire of seeing this.

Remember it at the time, a genuine "WTF?!?!" moment- all too rare watching football.

Roberto Carlos in 1997 Le Tournoi was another one.

Is Emile Heskey a better player than Ruud Gullitt?

    I think Ruuuud was better.

    There.

    Easy.

Mental moment. Remember being sat in Bass House watching it.

Great tournament considering those sort of things are normally ****.

Scholes ripping Italy apart was class, as was the last minute winner v France.

Wow, you picked a really **** player with a ****ign horrific strike rate and a midfielder generally considered one of the best Dutch players ever.

Why not compare, say, Cafu and Dunga?
