QPR midfielder Yossi Benayoun has signed for Maccabi Haifa in Israel on a two-year deal. The 34-year-old moved to Loftus Road in December last year and went on to make 17 appearances, scoring three goals. Everyone at QPR would like to thank Yossi for his contribution last season and wish him all the best for the future. http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/070614-yossi-benayoun-joins-maccabi-haifa-1618455.aspx I'd have been happy for him to stay, but hopefully we can do better. He did put in a couple of decent performances when we really need it.
2 performances out of about a dozen in the champ, clearly not good enough for the prem and very old too.
Youssi did ok and was one of our better players towards the end of the season. Sadly the injuries getting the better of him again. However we are better without him because of his age and injuryproness...anyway good luck to him and thank you for the job well done.
Here's a great example where Harry Redknapp and Philip Beard got it so right. An experienced player who came in at the right time, added to the team, and served his purpose in keeping us in the he playoff places whilst the squad was crippled by injuries. I wish him well with gratitude. Incidentally a couple of friends who support Arsenal said much the same to me when he signed; he's still held in high regard and over the past five months he demonstrated why.
Have to agree what sku just wrote. Without experienced players like Yossi our downward spiral would have been much worse and we would have lost our playoffs spots totally.
Likely a shrewd short-term signing by Harry - Yossi performed well in some key games for us, e.g. his goal (later sent off) in the 1-0 victory over Wigan. Along with Kranjcar I think his experience helped steady the boat in the midst of injuries and I wish him well back on home turf in Israel.
Liked him. Honest player...actually thought he was more effective than Kranky, in many matches. We owe him, for keeping us in the hunt when it was beginning to go wrong. Not for next year I am afraid ..but definitely a player who cared this year and who earned his crust Thank you Yossi One of the good guys
