Julio Cesar says a tearful goodbye to Toronto FC after seven-match loan stint before the World Cup Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar is a very emotional guy. If he even thinks about a Sarah McLachlan song, his sleeves are going to be wet for the rest of the night. So as you can imagine, saying goodbye is difficult for him, even if it's to a club for which he only played seven matches. Though Cesar's loan at Toronto FC was supposed to run until December, it's been reported that newly promoted QPR will take him back after the World Cup for their return to the Premier League. So, before Cesar left to join the Brazilian national team for their World Cup preparations, fellow goalkeeper Joe Bendik and the rest of the Toronto FC players present the man who was only with them for three months with a farewell gift: one of his favorite pictures, framed, and engraved with the words "new life." Well that was roughly equivalent to cutting all of the onions in the world at the same time for Julio Cesar, so he struggled to say his thank yous through the tears. Though the 2010 Champions League winner with Inter wasn't with Toronto long, it was an important experience for him. He made just 11 appearances for QPR since joining the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2012 and had to endure relegation after his first season. He went on loan to Toronto in a bid to get back on the pitch and try to earn his spot on Brazil's World Cup squad. He was able to achieve that goal and was obviously very appreciative of his temporary home and teammates for helping him do that. It was a lovely moment and a touching video, but one question remains: what's up with the homemade Wheel of Fortune? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/socce...oan-stint-before-the-world-cup-032412528.html If this is true, where does that leave Rob Green who is out of contract? Cesar has 2 years to run on his.
If we can't get shot of him he either goes on loan again or we will have to play him. Problem is, the longer this goes on the more likely Green is to find another club. Harry might just decide to play him in the Premier League...
For all we know Green might have / get a better offer elsewhere. I wouldn't have a problem with Cesar starting next season
With David (hair bear bunch) Luis in front of him, if brazil are going to win the world cup, he's gonna have to play a blinder.
Agreed. The situation with both himself and Green wasn't of his making, they're both quality keepers who should be starting every game. Quite a touching video that. Hope he has a good World Cup, but don't that we'll see him back.
I would want my club to be only considering Green as no1 for next season, after all he's done for us. What kind of message will it send out if Cesar gets no1. Also, I think Green is more well rounded and less reckless.
Cesar started brilliantly in his season with us, but I thought faded as the season progressed. Whether this was because of the general malaise that set in or not I cannot say, but I can't help but feel that his return would signify the return of certain aspects of the rot Redknapp has worked so hard to eradicate. Like many on here, there are some players within the Cesar, Taantrum, Mbia, Remy, Granero list that I'd consider having back at QPR, but if we all had our way we'd be back where we started: a team of highly-paid grandees with contempt for their trade.
Not interested. Showed zero loyalty, unlike Green. Happy to collect big wages by doing diddly squat.......exactly the sort of player we don't want IMHO. Greeeennnnnooooooooo!!!!
Sorry Newbury-Malaysia, but thats a truly ignorant post. In what way did he show 'zero loyalty'? We didn't play him because his stupid contract had additional payments for every game he played. Not his call. Was he supposed to tear up his contract and offer to play for free? We only need one of Green and Cesar, personally the only reasons I would keep Green is that he's good enough and obviously cheaper. Cesar is clearly a better keeper.
I don't want him back even though he's a better goalie than green. We will have no choice but to dump green if we can't get rid of Cesar.
If Brazil wins the WC with Cesar in goal we dont have to worry about him. He would get loads of offers and then he wont even remember little old QPR.........
Let's hope he doesn't do what he did for the 1st Dutch goal here...
That is a great save at 47 seconds from Cesar. It is interesting to speculate what Cesar might do if he can be incorporated into the band of brothers. However, if Bobby 'OBZ' Zamora and Green were to leave the club, I fear that the band of brothers is already compromised.
"He made just 11 appearances for QPR since joining the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2012." More couldn't give a toss journalism
