If you were to listen to Arry Hooper wanted to really join them last year but obviously he wanted PL football. Lets get one thing straight, most footballers are mercenaries who will play for the highest bidder. Also, a lot of footballers want the kudos of being a PL footballer.
Both this and the previous article are from team committed web-sites and offer no evidence for what they claim. IMO, it's mere speculation about what they want to happen rather than what is actually happening.
No, not necessarily. Very different playing styles. I've already explained this above. I responded to your post. There has been no indication that he wants to leave (yet) and what we have been told (fwiw, from our manager) is that he has actively made it clear he does not want to leave. So the only question, at the moment, is whether QPR would be willing to pay the amount we're willing to sell at. I suspect not, but knowing QPR I would not be surprised if I was wrong and we end up getting £7m for him.
This will be a test for McNally's statement that we don't have to sell anyone. I think, as it's been publicly stated we want to keep Hooper and I'd guess the same is true of Olsson, that the players would have to properly kick off before we agreed to sell or a ridiculous figure was offered. Both still have a long time on their contracts so we can get the highest possible prices for both.
I will be amazed if both Hooper and Olsson are here by the end of the summer, in fact I will probably be a little surprised if either of them are.
If Olsson is in talks with Wet Sham then surely that is an illegal approach unless we've given permission?
Jk I reckon that patter happens as much if not more without the player leaving at the end. The media like to use any small rumour as a story.
Often it isn't even based on a rumour, just the journo's imagination, or in these cases the small blog site writer's wishful thinking.
The same source is now reporting that West Ham are in talks with Nice left back Timothee Kolodziejczak: https://www.westhamtillidie.com/posts/2014/06/06/west-ham-chase-kolo Make of that what you will. (Bet Chris Goreham is hoping we don't play them if they sign him!).
The story may not be based on fact but I'm struggling to see why Allerdyce wouldn't be after him. He played for him, he rates him, he's tried to buy him before, he needs a left back.
Really amazed? I accept pessimism about our current situation, we're not in a great place, but neither player set the world alight nor had queues of suitors. Don't get me wrong, I rate both and obviously I can't speak for the likes of Allardyce so I wouldn't be surprised if we sold them, but I hardly think they're gold-plated nor do I think we need to sell. Both still have a lot to prove
He still needs to sell Olsson to the board and fans though. Sure, if we get offered £5m I reckon we bite their hand off, but I suspect they might struggle to match the fee we would look for. When there is some exotic sounding foreigner on lower wages without two relegations to his name... Football is not logical
Like Rob, I think they could well be interested in Olsson as one of the four LBs they're looking at. I seem to remember that he and Allardyce had a falling out at some point, but can't remember the details. My main issue was the blog's assertion that they were 'holding talks' with him when no permission has been given for that. As for Hooper, if other clubs are interested, why haven't they expressed their interest? Newcastle have had a bid turned down for Ross McCormack at Leeds. It may well happen, but his six PL goals last season are hardly going to excite many PL teams, IMO.
I think the key things is they're all under long contracts, we are in an amazing position so there's no fire sale, the other clubs know that. If they do manage to buy it's going to be very very expensive for them. If a club made contact with ncfc and were told a huge amount and went away we'd probably never hear about it anyway. I still think if the club want them they'll stay. Only one player we know of wants out, so fingers crossed
Most humans will work for the highest pay. I wouldn't call it mercenary. Particular in a career that only spans 15 years(ish). Can't blame him either. 12 months ago there was talk of him breaking into the England set up. And then he joined Norwich.
not sure there is anything substantial in the olsson report - it has a very misleading headline. he clearly is not in talks, the author has written what he hopes is true. hooper i'm fairly certain will leave though. you can't blame players for wanting to play at the highest level but that doesn't mean they should get their wish if the bidding club refuses to meet our asking price. we are in a decent position - we don't need to sell anybody. if they go, it will be on our terms. and hooper will cost more than the £5m quoted in reports, i guarantee that
I'm still not sure that Hooper did enough last year to interest any PL team for more than £5m. It could happen, but that and the comments from Adams make me think that it won't. RvW leaving, probably on loan, is more likely, IMO.
