How bout this since we are already guessing line ups Keeper TBA Rosy Chester Hobbs Dudgeon Stewart Oli Koren Cairney (Ghilas till stewart recovers) Simpson Fryatt Bench: Oxley Cooper Harper Evans Barmby Garcia/Ghilas Mclean
To be completely fair, OLM said last week that we weren't in for Kilkenny. The guy isn't always right, I disagreed with him over Adebola but he's right on this issue. I'm gonna go whole hog and agree with Percival too. We should utilise Oli if he's still here. His attitude is a million percent better than Bullard's so if he's around, he should be considered.
Hullborn, You'd probably find that the 2 young players "that no other clubs were willing to sign" (corrected your grammar BTW, don't mention it) were not even offered to any other club because of a guy who coaches the Man U reserves called Warren Joyce.. heard of him? perhaps not.. you wouldn't have been out of nappies..
How depressing......why don't you shoot youself. We are not a PL team and will have to work to get decent free signings. But they will happen; don't except transfer fees, but sensible free's.
I don't get why we all have to agree all the time. Dudgeon and Evans must be really good even though they're totally unproven, (Dudgeon in particular) Percy must be wrong about everything, Bullard must be a 'mercenary' in any debate and NP has to be a genius. There's room for debate on all of these topics but as soon as somebody tries (hullborn for example) everyone jumps on his back. We seem to have missed out on a lot of targets, and others don't look very likely (Danns, Ayala, Mannone...) on the other hand we've signed a couple of youngsters, neither of which are going to massively improve our team (one of who played in our team last season, and when combined with Harper was a rubbish partnership) and our squad is still 4 players behind the one that finished the season (poorly) if we want to improve on last season, we need a few new signings on top of replacing those 4 that went back to parent clubs. Add to that it's proving difficult as ever to shift the high earners, particularly the **** ones. With that in mind, I see no reason why someone isn't allowed say that the window is going poorly, and yet Evans and Dudgeon being described as 'quality signings' is considered reasonable.
So you don't want everyone to agree but you don't want anyone to disagree with hullborn or percival? Make your mind up.
I'm making the same point in both of those quotes. I don't see why it is a necessity that everyone agrees with the general consensus all the time, and if somebody says something a little contrary (which is often more accurate) then they are immediately dismissed, and usually told they are thick, a wum or a Leeds fan. I'm not suggesting any ground rules that everyone should agree or disagree all the time. Rather that people accept each other's views and discuss them instead of an immediate crucifixion of the poster, on topics which are actually debatable, such as the ability or impact of players, the state of things in the transfer window etc.
Hope you are in a better mood today. Just need some news on the transfer front to cheer everybody up.
People are free to post whatever they want, others are equally free to post their responses. If some one posts, without any foundation in fact, that 'Nigel Pearson doesn't want to be here', then they're likely to get crucified. If someone posts that we've just missed out on our 4th/5th choice midfielder, when we were never in for him in the first place, then they are also likely to get shot down(particularly when they post something as stupid as 'could this transfer window get any worse', when we're only a few weeks into a three month transfer window). The fact is, that most of the vitriol aimed at certain posters is entirely down to the manner in which they present their opinion, rather than the actual opinion itself.
I agree with you here, Lambo. However, I can understand some peoples frustrations. I remember when Adam Pearson first joined us, he was asked repeatedly about the "Potential" of this Club. He said at the time that the problem was people's expectations and that it was the "Potential" tag that had often acted against our succeeding. I agreed with him. Now, ironically, it has been Adam's mistake in naming Neil Danns as our number one target and in making the signing of Danny Ayala seem a mere formality, that has lead to people's perceptions of the situation as being more a concern than it really ought to be. From my point of view, I'm just happy we've still got a club to support (especially after reading this mornings depressing assessment in the Fail). People need to remember we came damn close, last season, to winning a play-off place with a team of loanees. With more permanent signings this Summer, why should the Club not improve on their performance last season? We have an invaluable pipeline into the best academy in the country and I am sure that a couple of really talented lads will be winging their way across the Pennines to the KC come next season. I think we may have to be patient with regards a really good centre forward but I think we have every right to aim for a play-off place come the end of the season. BTW, as soon as I read that Vital Hull article on Kilkenny chosing Bristol ahead of us, I had a little chortle remembering what Adam had said about him and his agent. Looks like some on here have a few IQ issues!!
When did this happen? I like to think I follow City closely (re: Obsessively) and I haven't read anything about Ayala for months, other than on message boards. I've read and heard about interest in Danns since December but never heard anyone say "He's our #1 target". Any decent interviews I've missed?
Adam Pearson has been interviewed by David Burns (BA Hons) and said that Neil Danns is high up on our list of targets this Summer. He was also interviewed by Burns, at the end of last season and said that the signing of Daniel Ayala was simply a matter of agreeing a fee with Liverpool, and the way he phrased it made it sound fait accomplis.
i reckon its just agent talk. kilkenny is no better than what we have now. Olifinjana and Koren would be a very good midfield along with evans and mckenna.
AYALA TO SIGN FOR HULL CITY WHEN HE GETS BACK FROM HOLIDAYS. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ JOE DUDGEON TO BE PHASED IN OVER THE SEASON @ LEFT BACK. But for starters expect the back 4 to be something like Dawson Ayala Hobbs Chester. Rosinoir to be used as an attacking wing back.
