Italian managers have been heading the betting to take over from Brian McDermott, who left Leeds by mutual consent on Friday. Former Middlesbrough player Gianluca Festa was installed as favourite to get the job, with ex-AC Milan manager Massimo Allegri next in the running. But Cellino insists he is not looking for an Italian manager to take the club forward. "I have always said I wanted a British coach for this club," the 57-year-old told Sky Sports. I would take 8m for Ross if it is reinvested into the team, any less than that I would not accept and build a team around him. Not spending loads as I`m sure Cellino can get a few in on the cheap with his scouting network.
I'd take Houghton as well. He was, afterall, a coach first and foremost before he became a Manager. & whatever else we think of Norwich, he did have them playing some good stuff.

Newcastle United have moved swiftly to deny claims from Leeds United owner Massino Cellino that they have made a bid for Ross McCormack. McCormack is being strongly linked with a summer move away from Elland Road, and reports claimed that Newcastle had made a move earlier this week. Cellino later stated that he had indeed turned down a bid from Newcastle for the in-demand Scottish international. However, Newcastle have been quick to deny any suggestions that they have made any sort of bid for Leeds man. Sky sources have described Cellino's statement as 'nonsense' and insist that no bid has been lodged with the Elland Road outfit.
