Lennon had it easy at Celtic, biggest budget, biggest wage bill, no real competition for 3 years out of 4. I think what he did in qualifying for the CL and the 2nd round is easily comparable to taking a team which hadn't won the league for 43 years and making them the dominant force in Norway. What has Steve Clarke done apart from a half-decent season with West Brom? They didn't even play good fitba' under him. Too many fans licking the arse of English football, every single candidate from down there is a failure. Can't say that about Deila, the guy is clearly a winner.
To be fair, turning relegation fodder into champions in ANY league is better than making the second best team in the league the best team. Not saying the Norwegian dude is a great manager or anything but as bad as the Celtic team Lennon inherited were it's not like they were bottom 6 material with a tenth of the other teams budget.

I'm just happy that the club is looking beyond the bleeding obvious names from the premiership for the manager. All other names linked I can say with conviction are proven to be a step down from Lennon but with this guy at least I can say he could have something to offer that Lennon never.
Spot on Tam. Lennon did a decent job, especially in Europe, and I can't see Clarke, MacKay or Coyle doing any better than he did. Progression is the key to the new appointment not continuance.

Coyle isn't my first choice, lambert is, but given the choice between Coyle and this nobody then I would go for Coyle everyday of the week. Coyle has achieved more than this guy.
