Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed reports that the club have bid for Newcastle United goalkeeper Fraser Forster. The young keeper was on goal with Lennon's side last season and a permanent move had seemed to be the preferred action for both parties. Forster is behind Steve Harper and Tim Krul in the Newcastle pecking order, while he would be first-choice again at Parkhead. Lennon is now hoping the Magpies will accept a bid thought to be in the region of £1.5 million, although he claims the Premier League side want to retain the 23-year-old. Lennon said: "We have made a bid for Fraser Forster Newcastle have said that he is not for sale at the moment but we will pursue that avenue further if we can. "I said that we needed a goalkeeper and we would like to bring in a centre forward as well. "So that's two and we might be able to add further to the squad after that, I don't know. "But there won't be wholesale changes. We are really happy with the majority of the squad and we only need to bring in one or two."
