Magath wouldn't be a bad appointment. Koeman is ideal for me, but Magath would be a suitable alternative I think. He has good glasses.

I agree. Magath not a bad shout. I prefer completely new blood, but I thought Magath was good for Fulham, given what he had to work with, and has a good record.
By the way, why do all teams stand firm against us, but whenever anyone swoops for our guys, we roll over?

Marcelo Bielsa for me. He's the master, so t'is said. Bloody hell it would be exciting. MP on steroids. The players would be up for similar levels of fitness. Plus they would be going for winning with the same level of vigour, if not more so.

Just joined! If it's true they've gone to Magath then that just makes me wonder what the hell RK was talking about when "Europe's top managers are knocking on our door". You can't say stuff like that then be like "Ladies and Gents Felix Magath!" Still hoping Koeman gets it he seems eager to manage in the PL and has said he'd like it and fits pretty much what Saints need.

Magath has 3 Bundesliga titles. As a manager, his resume is arguably better than Koeman's though he's also been around quite a bit longer.

I mainly don't want Magath because he's supposedly ball-buster/control freak. If you're going to demand that much of the people around you, then you have to give back. Which means not leaving your club after six months in charge. So the fact that Magath would take the job means I don't want him.

But he says he's happy at Fulham, and Fulham issued a hand's off, and I'm not sure if we were that excited by him anyway so it appears as though he's out of the picture.

Magath is a great manager for about six months at a time. Tends to alienate his players beyond that point.

    Welcome!

    Not overly keen on Magath.

I've heard rumours that we have been in talks with Lippi who is currently managing in China. Thoughts? Clearly a class manager with pedigree.

Blimey, I wonder if he's as good as he used to be? Only coach ever to win both the World Cup and the Champions League, as well as the AFC Champions League in Asia. He's 66 now, that might be the only thing against him as I had a feeling the board might want a younger man.

Him with a good younger assistant could work well though.

Scad - Magath isn't that great for the first six months as he didn't do anything with Fulham last year other than continue to take them down

The already dodgy morale of the squad would be completely shattered if he turned up

Don't think we have rolled over yet. Rickie was a special case. Mauricio paid off his contract and left. Lallana may have burnt his boats with us, but we didn't allow him to go at his convenience. No idea what position Shaw is in. I don't think anyone else will go unless they are surplus to requirements #pleasegiveFonteacontract

I don't think anyone really knows how any manager will do at any club. It's a .bit of judgement in the appointment, and a lot of luck.

I didn't think you needed to approach clubs about their managers,I thought you could just arrange meetings with them....that's what I was told. So hopefully the magath story won't have much in it.

Yeah, that Mirror report doesn't make any sense. We can speak to Magath whenever we like.
