All that said, many of us have predicted for a year now that sooner or later Raheem will get sent off. He NEVER ducks a challenge or goes in anything less than a 100%. Just be thankful it was in a meaningless game, for an innocuous challenge against a drama-queen opponent. Wouldn't change Sterling's attitude for anything though. he bullied the **** out of fellaini at OT last season when he played at the head of diamond, and no ****er pushes him about. the downside is the Eyeties and Uruguayans will be rolling all over the show with every touch though.
Sterling is not there to do reckless tackles. he is there as as fast attacking player. I am sure Roy will have a word with him to that effect.
Ahhh right, so players shouldn't make tackles unless they are defenders... gotcha What a ridiculous statement
But not only are we playing a second string (and boy, don't some of them look it), we're even playing some who aren't going to the Cup. Surely the time for experimentation is over?
its amazing how he's bulked up over the past year. last season he was pushed off the ball so easily but this season he is a real strong player and rarely gets bullied
Are you saying that sterling is a good tackler? Roy would have selected him because he is good at tackling.
you've not been watching this season, have you? Part of Sterling's game is to worry and harass opponents, even those 20-30kg heavier than him. He does it well and is ****ing fearless. He's not Ronaldo, standing on the touchline waiting to be given the ball. And God, I hope he doesn't change.
I hope that doesn't effect Sterling regarding playing in the World Cup, could make Roy think he's immature. But it wasn't a red, never. Valencia should be embarrassed as a captain of the Country choking a 19 year old. Anyway, Lampard has had his testimonial now and will get his seat warm for the bench, Wilshire should only play if England are winning and need to defend the last five. Rooney did nothing and cut in too much and gave Shaw little to no help. Milner shows why Johnson is England's number one right back. Barkley looks incredible.
So from that we learned that Ox should start Rooney shouldn't Barkley looks a prospect Milner at RB...nah! Cahill and jagielka are obviously better than I thought Wilshire is regressing Sterling shouldn't tackle Lambert is going to be a good signing for us We won't get past the group stage.
Sterling wins many. many tackles every game, or simply harasses defenders into making mistakes and bad passes. It was good enough for Ian Rush to base half of his career on.
Did I say that? You said as a wide fast player he shouldn't be making tackles which is utter bollocks. If you watched Sterling at all this season you'd know he actually gets stuck in and helps win the ball back (even playing RB a couple of times). Just because he's not a defender doesn't mean he shouldn't tackle. If that was the case, football would be like basketball. Letting a team walk up to 18 yard box then defend, then win the ball back with defenders and walk up the other end to let that team have a go etc.
