Well I'm back too, like Lloydino, after a short break due to PC problems. Damn thing started to take ages to do the simplest of things (eg shut down, load a web page) so bit the bullet and reloaded windowXP + 134 updates.....zzzzzzz. 1.5 days of my life wasted but at least it was raining all the time. I'm no geek but I think the hidusb driver got corrupted somehow. Need a new PC and plan the challenge of building one over the winter, but at the moment old one is now blisteringly quick and will keep it in a minimalist state and not clog it up with loads of software.
maybe you .... and the only people for it.... mmm..... the companies themselves and the politicians supporting them.... will vote for it... oh wait a minute they don't need a petition, they already have the power... That is why people start petitions... more seriously though, fracking is such a short-termist crude exploitation of the world's resources etc etc

Morning all, looks as if I should be wearing the headgear today as protection from the rays. Really don't like wearing hats, but it does make sense if the hair is not quite as thick as it once was. Have a good day!
When I became the proud owner of a couple of French fields they were totally covered in blackthorn, brambles and nettles. After a number of years hard work they have been cut back to provide areas that I can grow things I want rather than a wilderness that was non-productive. At the same time I have been trying to provide areas for the wild life to live, rather than the farmers approach that is to remove everything in sight. I have a woodland area that I am using to add plants that enjoy the semi-shade and they have been quite rewarding when in flower. Having put them in, some maintenance is still required to prevent them being strangled by things such as goose grass. This morning I was weeding an area in the shade when I dug up a bank vole that was having a quiet nap and didn't expect to be disturbed. The stupid animal should have made a bolt for the cover of the hedge, instead it shot straight up my trouser leg. I started to shake my leg around hoping that it would return to ground level, but the more I continued with my latest dance routine the more it climbed up my leg until it was moving around at hip level. Fortunately they are not meat eaters, but the only thing to do was drop my trousers and let it escape that way. As it scuttled away I remembered about my wife's grandfather who had been a gardener. He always went to work wearing gaiters that came up almost to knee level to prevent rats going up his trousers. Maybe I should find out if they are still sold anywhere!
