http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...hettino-gone-Adam-Lallana-Luke-Shaw-next.html Doesn't say anything new really, just seems to be turning his focus away from Katharina and towards Les. DTLW
What's the agenda here? Who does this article serve? It's a piece clearly intentioned to destabilise us further.
Bizarre article full of contradictions. His Reed/Henderson - Dodd/Williams feud makes no sense, well the explanation he gives makes no sense. Sounds like he just doesn't like our club and is taking delight in its potential fall.
Meh, Ashton just likes stirring things up. He's that kind of guy. It has nothing to do with Saints, and everything to do with football muckraking being a lucrative profession.
I think the problem is that most people these days don't listen and only hear what they want to hear. Les was probably naive thinking he could say what he said and people to take his words for what they meant. He never said nobody would be sold but most including many on this forum took it as that and are constantly saying he will look bad if anyone is sold. He simply stated that suggestions that deals were already done or taking place behind the scenes were misleading and inaccurate. His basic meaning was that there weren't any deals being done at that time behind the scenes as was being reported and that Saints had no intention of selling anybody. That was translated by the media and the fans that he was saying nobody would be sold. Unfortunately having no intention to sell does not mean nobody will be sold, just as you or I saying I have no intention of doing something doesn't mean we won't do it. Circumstances change and sometimes we have to do things that we don't want to do. He should maybe have maintained the old club silence stance and said nothing because these days nobody seems to understand English and interprets what people say in a way that they want to. I feel a bit sorry for him really.
I'm not even going to read the article, just knowing that it is written by Ashton from the Daily Fail is all I need to know.
I did try to desperately point this fact out at the time, but was argued with to the point of near death-by-boredom by some on the issue........ EDIT - I did it again. I replied without reading the following posts. Sorry FLT!
Maybe it's just me with my Aspergers but I tend to see things as black and white and often can't comprehend how others see things differently, but I listened to the whole interview Reed gave. It was very telling that he was careful to use words like misinformed rather than incorrect. In one way he was trying to make sure he steadied the boat without making the mistake of making a promise he might not be able to keep. At the time he made the statement he was saying they didn't want to sell anyone and that they had some confidence that what they were saying was true. I'm pretty sure they didn't know that Liverpool would bid for Lambert and I would say that they didn't expect Lallana to kick up the stink he seems to have. Whether Luke leaves could be 50/50 and I'm sure the club would still like to keep him but if Man U offered £25m+Hernandez (with no chance of buying Hernandez without Luke going) then the club may see that as a deal which benefits the club. Problem being that media and many people have taken what they want from that, ignored what he was actually saying and will hold him now to something he didn't say let alone mean. People need to start listening to what other people say rather than interpreting it. Even now with the Lallana situation. Selling someone on our terms may well mean selling Lallana for less than £25m if that is better for the club. It may well be that it is now not a good idea to bring Adam back into the club. Even if he does perform brilliantly on the pitch there would be a massive risk of off the pitch rumblings and could be like a viper in the nest. Little comments here and there, snipes undermining what Saints have built. We could end up keeping Lallana for next season, thinking we've done really well and then imploding with loads wanting out at the end of next season. Damage Limitation has to now come into the thinking. I am/was the biggest Lallana fan and championed him as being worth £30m+ before the last season started but at the moment I would say to Liverpool - £25m with no add ons or incentives. £25m cash (installments okay) then put a statement on the OS saying they have sold him. No thank you, no snipe, just facts. And because I'm a naive childish 39 year old I would tell him he is not welcome at St Marys from that point on
It's the way he puts it rather then what he says. He has had something against us since Cortese left. If he had simply said Saints may still lose Shaw and Lallana. Then added in why but looked at it from both sides, the article would be fine. But the way he has written his just seems a massive bitch at us.
Ashton is a cock and I agree with you. I was talking about how media and people say that we were told no-one would be sold when we weren't.
