Fishpaste said it was off this afternoon, two hours after he'd wrote an article on why it has legs. He wouldn't say his source. Any clue of the source? Maybe someone more preferable has become available. Looking at Benga's ability and how much of a coup the signing would be, it must be someone with Premiership Experiance that's become available.
Its all subjective. As someone who runs a live music venue I get it in the neck all the time. "Why did you book them"?? "They are ****e" blah blah blah. To me the only good band is a band that makes me money. Bigger venues don't book the acts most of the time anyway. 90% of our acts are booked by promoters who hire the venue. So as a venue we have very little control over what is put on. It will be the same for the SOL. Live Nation (or whoever the promoter is) will hire the venue and put the acts on. It will be brilliant for the city and for SAFC, most people will come from all over for the concerts, it will be a much bigger specturm of people than come to the football matches. It all helps the club as it has a massive comunative impact.
I didn't think it was anything to do with Larsson like. One of what things? We dropped interest just for the ****s and giggles did we? Have we been quoted a high price? Wage demands? Don't buy the 'just one of those things' spiel, either we were never interested or there's a reason we've dropped interest. Sorry fella but the more vague people are with 'facts' the more I ask questions. Just find it really strange that RR did an article with links to a source on why it has legs, then it's slipped out a few hours later through twitter that it's all bollocks with no reasoning at all. Sounds like RR are creating transfer saga's all on their own. As bad as the press.
We try to make sure we don't use stuff unless we can specifically link to a reputable source, even if we get solid information. For example, I knew about the Billy Jones transfer before it broke but without something I can link to I won't mention it until it's been reported in the press, then I can say it's 'looking likely' or whatever. We were interested in him, then something came up that was out of our hands and now we've moved on.
So that will be price or wages then, or unwilling to join us. Ta fella. Doing a grand job by the way on RR fella. Looks like you're doing all the graft at the moment.
I'd love to... But 20 odd thousand (if we're lucky) SAFC fans paying a tenner a ticket would cost the club more in security etc than it brings in. I hate the ****ty bands they're putting on but they are good for the club financially
I can't see anything bad about the shows. As much as I think One Direction are a joke I think it's a masterstroke from the club. The shows bring in new people who might then be tempted to come back for games, especially the age group for One Direction etc. As the attendance showed young people are highly suggestable and visiting an impressive stadium and being part of a big excited crowd can be addictive. There's been many a story on here about a first visit being the start of a lifetime of returns to the ground. It was also great marketing, from the cub, to parade the band in Sunderland shirts when they have so many gullible young fans. "One Direction, the world’s biggest boyband, made a flying visit to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. The boys enjoyed a kick around on the stadium’s pitch, with band member Niall Horan posting pictures of himself on instagram sporting an SAFC home strip. Each band member also received a personalised shirt as a gift from the club." You can now imagine shirts being posted all over the globe as kids want to copy their idols Poyet should be left well alone to properly prepare the players in the way he wants, not 'playing for money' ...... the pitch would also suffer at exactly the wrong time. You'd also only attract people who go to the SOL in any case which doesn't increase our profile one bit.
Big Bruce Springsteen fan me'self, Billy. There 2 years ago....brill. Basically.....you go or not go. Canny commerce from the club. Last concert @ SJP??????????
Rod Stewart in June 2007. Since then we've had 2009: Oasis, Take That 2010: Pink 2011: Take That, Kings of Leon 2012: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2013: Bon Jovi, Rihanna, North East Live 2014:One Direction, North East Live Sid James have just booked Kings of Leon, a full 3 years since they peaked in popularity.
Kings of Leon still popular mate, judging by the crowd at sjp on saturday. Funniest bit of the day was the two couples who walked onto the pitch just in front of me,and as they did so one of the lads stopped and said "do you know where we are standing ?". Thought it was just another daft mag, until he said "This is where we beat the scum 3-0 every year"!!
They still popular fella, but their recent work sucks arse i think personally. I've liked nowt they've done since Aha Shake Heartbreak when they started to drop the southern blues edge and Caleb started pronouncing his words clearer abandoning his vocal style in the process. It polished for the masses and it's ****e. Their last album was an abomination. Not a fan any more as you can tell.
