What number does he usually wear? Is it predictably number nine...? If so, Aspas currently has it so that would explain him not being given a number yet; waiting for the Spaniard to **** off
I was going to say, if all women footballers were like that and played like that they'd def get higher attendances He normally has 7... can't see him getting that for some reason 9 would make sense for the CF. Would Aspas want to give it up if he's staying? Does he have a choice? If not, 25 would be a good CF number for him.
Absolutely made up for the guy, clearly loves Liverpool and it's a dream, nothing better to see in football. Thinking on a tactic point of view, we will have to change our game when he is on, we play with incredible pace which he does lack, even though his pass, dribbling and technique is great, he won't be able to bomb forward. Could he change his position to a CF like Barca have played and line up like ------Gerrard Henderson-Coutinho --------Lambert Suarez------------Sturridge Maybe he drops deeper and allows more space for Suarez and Sturridge? It gives us a different option, I don't want to say a plan b because that sounds like desperation when he comes on.
Unfortunately, I can't see him playing in anything other than desperate situations as the Plan B. He is pretty technical for a big man but he's not on the same level with our Plan A. I can see him being played when we struggle to break teams down and he comes on for the last 10-20 mins where we can start putting a few crosses in (ala Chelsea at Anfield).
I agree. SAS are a great choice to breaking that at 32 is impossible but getting game time off the bench will be i hope decent.
I said yesterday he could be a false forward. But I agree he will mainly be a sub. No need to interfere with SAS and Raheem.
He must feel like all his birthdays and Christmases have come at once. At the age of 32, he's travelling to Brazil as part of the world cup squad and he's signed for the club he idolises and has done since he was a kid. It's like a ****ing fairy story. He'll give his all for us. Good luck to him.
He'll be well looked after mate. He is one of ours, but I have no doubt he'll always have a major soft-spot in his heart for you boys
Shades of Ray Kennedy for me. I can see him doing the same job as Barry, if called for. He's a good passer who plays with his head up, not averse to tackling and, though not as quick as our young guns, he covers plenty of kms per game. Should indirectly put pressure on Lucas, for starters. For two seasons he could be very, very versatile. As two posters have pointed out; he's more than a lamppost, and there's shades of Gary Mac - praise indeed.
Yes Bisc, I am. Wait and see, the guy is more, much more than a plan b bench warmer. As said, he's a better passer than Lucas, for starters, and plays with his head up.
No he's not.... I agree he's more than a plan B... but I doubt he's much competition for Lucas in the defensive midfield position
