Fine... so we keep Green as #1 and look for a better #2 who won't cost us £20-30k a week (which we could better spend on outfield players that we will need more urgently due to the significant departures from the players whose contracts are up and the loanees that are returning to their parent clubs.

I don't see why all the negativity around Murphy? The guy's hardly been given a chance and when he did start at Hillsboro he acquitted himself pretty well considering how we imploded that night. I see no reason to drop him?

Goalie is the one area you don't want to be thrifty on. I'm not talking Cesar stupidity but 2 good keepers competing on low wages with a big app. Fee.

Green is one of the worst first choice keepers in the PL, we are up the creek without a paddle he he breaks his leg in September and have to rely on someone nowhere near as good for four months.

Utter nonsense... he's an ex-international, hugely experienced PL keeper that had had the mental fortitude to come back from what could have been a career ending mistake on the global stage... but everyone is entitled to their opinion so I suggest we leave it there, otherwise we'll end up going round in circles

    Cheers

Confidence as most keep saying to him ... but great thing is he is still the same great grounded lad: still lives at home and the other day he just said to his parents .. Oh just off to play for England in Toulon ... like he was still going down the park to kick about

    OK, who's worse than him?
    This from an article
Elite Tier: David de Gea, Petr Cech, Joe Hart

Almost Tier: Asmir Begovic, Hugo Lloris, Simon Mignolet

Dependable Tier Wojciech Szczesny, Ben Foster, Tim Howard, Tim Krul, Artur Boruc, Brad Guzan

Not Quite Tier: Michael Vorm, Maarten Stekelenburg, Julian Speroni, John Ruddy, Vito Mannone, Gerhard Tremmel

Bench Tier: David Marshall, Steve Harper, Anders Lindegaard, David Stockdale

Please God No Tier: Costel Pantilimon, Allan McGregor, Boaz Myhill, Adrian, Keiren Westwood, Paolo Gazzaniga, Kelvin Davis

I have him down as at least 20th in the bench tier after Marshall.

I can't see how anyone in their right mind would rate him above 15 in that lot.

Christ... Flyer you're like a dog with a bone!

I'll say it again... it's all about opinions and we clearly don't agree... but I'm happy to disagree and let it lie there, I don't aim to persuade/bully you to my point of view... I like the conversation and the airing of different opinions... whether I'm in my right mind or not is another question.

Incidentally I rate Green equal or above at least ten of those you listed.

He's in the dependable tier imo, easily. Been very impressed with Brad Guzan at Villa, we could do a lot worse than try and bring him in to compete with Green.

Wow, I can't believe anyone would rate him above vorm or ruddy.

I can say this, you wouldn't be saying it if he didn't play for us.

As for being better than 10, I've already said he's 20th out of 31 so I rate him better than 10 listed.

I've just contacted 'Arry and advised him that any potential signing should be put to Flyer for approval before agreeing the deal.

But that wouldn't work as he doesn't like Harry either!

It would be funny if we could sign an Italian forward called Allegro.

Imagine that on the score sheet. QPR 2 - Chelsea 0 , Austin (12) Allegro (80)

    Sorry, I'm getting my coat!

I can't believe that whoever compiled the list put Boruc in the dependable category, if I'm honest. You can depend on him to drop at least one clanger per game, if you ask me.

Looks like it was done last summer, Marshall deserves to be moved up a category too.
Still, there's no question that green doesn't make the top 10 and thus is a worse than average PL goalie,

IMO, Green is more than good enough to play for us in the Premier League. We are very lucky to have him. We have weaknesses elsewhere where we need to focus our transfer budget. He's pulled off some world class saves this season, made very few mistakes and I can't recall a single howler.

I don't know whether Murphy is good enough as back up for Green. I'll trust Harry & Co's judgement on that one. One thing I am sure about: we don't need Cesar back in the fold undermining our new found team spirit. Green deserves his chance back in the PL.
